You're forgetting that Thomas Cook Airlines also pioneered the Platinum Cadet Scheme where TR/base and line training are paid for by the company upfront. Titan and Jet2 were not the first to dream up these schemes

Do you know if either of these are open to pilots prior to MCC? Don't think Jet2 is, but not sure about TCX now that the scheme is closed. Thanks.

Yes, I have been contacted.
I was wondering if it will be just a standard HR interview or technical as well since it's with VA.

Anyone else has been contacted?

those not heard back, is it logical to assume it's likely to be a rejection?

Well, good luck to everyone who got invited! We'll hear us over the radio, sooner or later!
There are still more invites going out. It hasn't finished yet.

Not yet, there are still some more invites being sent.

Once the process is complete, we will be sending emails to everybody who applied. That will take some time, and will likely start around 20-22 Sept.

The pay scales for cadets have been confirmed, and we now have the go-ahead to share these:

Year 1) £35,500 plus flight pay of approx £3,000-£4,000
Year 2) £42,500 plus flight pay of approx £3,000-£4,000
Year 3) £52,530 plus flight pay of approx £3,000-£4,000

Year 4 rises to standard FO pay of £57,730 plus flight pay of approx £3,000-£4,000.

The value of the 3-year bond is approximately £22,000 at the start, declining in stages over the 3-year period.

Permanent contract.

Dear Virtual Aviation an Titan airways,
I honestly found your automatic reply informing us about the exclusion from the selection very inappropriate.

I've applied to this job having all the necessery requirements. Furthermore, I am post-graduated at University with the highest marks, I got 95% of the theoretical ATPL exams, all first seat and I have excellent feedbacks from all the flight academies where I had my training and recently I also passed the difficult DLR test.
It's been years that I am trying to give the best of me and I a really feel disappointed to be disfigured from a selection without even having the chance to have a personal interview.

Your advices to how fill correctly an application are a joke.
Put yourself on the side of a low hour pilot sending hundreds of CV to different airlines searching for a job all around Europe! Do you really expect that for each job proposal an applicant should prepare a differet cover letter to each company as you suggest? Do you know how much time does it need to write a cover letter? And if you think that this is really feasible, why don't you provide personalized feedback for each applicant who has sent you an application??
It would be a good gesture of consistency!

You could have saved your time instead or writing such a reply.

We all know that the only reason to prefere some candidates instead of others is just your own business convenience. And let me tell you that this is not a selection, this is a discrimination.

I'm tired of being fooled, at least be honest with people and treat us with respect.

I don't think your outburst is likely to help your cause. You will be one of many disappointed at the first hurdle, who have met the necessary criteria.

As a highly qualified person in other fields, why is it now you want a career change?
With I suspect hundreds of applications for probably a dozen or so jobs, a personnal feedback is simply not feasible or for that matter normal practice.

Best of luck with your next application.

I am sorry but my message does not want to help my cause, I have been discarded from the selection process anyway. I just want to express my dissent to these kind of selective procedures.

Each company obviously has preferences for its candidates (age, nationality, sex, flight experience etc.) but some of these characteristics can not be indicated to prefere candidates during the selection, because it would become discrimination.
Honestly I think that me and the others who have been rejected simply didn't corrispond to the real criteria they were looking for, but I know it's part of the game.

Having said that I would have preferred not to waste time from the beginning, but given that I applied, what annoy me is that I have to be excluded from a selection process with the questionable motivation that my cover letter was not well customized or that I have not responded well to the questions proposed in the application.

I am sorry but I can not believe that initially a company chooses pilots for their fleet, considering who write better a cover letter or who answers better some questions (without even being certain that they have been written by the candidate himself)

That's why I would have preferred to don't recived any explanation instead of feeling discriminated and fooled.
Sorry for being so strict but I really think that as applicants we deserve more respect.

Anyway I want to close here my outburst hoping that I was able to clarify my point of view.

ILiLLo

Dear ILiLLo,

I want to reply on behalf of our scheme partners at Virtual Aviation, as I do not feel your comments are entirely appropriate, or accurate.

As an airline, we at Titan Airways, are the ones who set the parameters for Virtual Aviation to work within on this scheme. Added to that, we are also responsible for:

1) All eligibility criteria;
2) The number of final candidates needed;
3) The number of people we asked VA to reduce the initial applications down to (and we set really harsh criteria, including the need for an excellent cover letter expressing real desire to work in our specialised team at Titan Airways - not a cut and paste of a previous application);
4) The requirement for the final few selected candidates attending a sim and interview at VA. It isn't a money making exercise. It is a competencies check;
5) The very last 12 candidates attending a final selection with us at Titan Airways, and;
6) We are also ultimately responsible for insisting that the final selected candidates undertake the expanded, advanced MCC/JOC at VA in order that we get to know and understand our cadets skill sets and abilities.

At no stage have Virtual Aviation acted unilaterally, or done anything discriminatory.

I am absolutely certain that you are a highly qualified individual with excellent pass rates in all exams and tests. Unfortunately for you, so are loads of other low hours pilots - and ultimately a small number of applicants had a more compelling argument in their overall excellent applications to our scheme - hence they got the personal call.

I want to sign off by asking you three questions and with a statement.

1) When was the last time you saw a UK airline offering to pay for ratings for cadets?

2) Bearing in mind the above question, do you really feel that you put the absolute maximum best effort you could into your application to our scheme - or did you treat it as just "another" application?

3) How many applications have you made to jobs that received no reply at all? Did you take to the internet to rail against those employers and training providers?

However, I completely understand and sympathise with your position. I hope you can take my words as trying to give you a personal response as to why you perhaps didn't quite make our shortlist on this occasion.

We hope to run another cadet scheme in 2018 and we aim to learn from the whole process, and to improve it if necessary, when we conduct a full review of the scheme in due course.

We would welcome your next application in line with the advice that I've offered you.

Titan Airways Fleet Management Office (Airbus).

I wish I could write/speak Italian as well as you can write in English.
Although I understand what you are saying in your posts, there are a number of spelling and grammatical errors which are obvious to a native English speaker. If this was recreated in the application, it would not be the same quality as many others.
Although you may well be disadvantaged applying in English, you would certainly be head and shoulders above a native UK applicant applying in Italy.

As for the selection process " wake up and smell the coffee".
Normal aviation recruiting practice.

The DLR testing process is an impressive hurdle to success in. Well done.
Try some low cost operators based in Europe. There is demand for pilots out there. Failing that consider instructing to gain flying experience.
