Thank you for your reply and your compliments. I know that my english is not perfect, and you, underlining that, inadvertently made my point. What I was trying to say is exactly that, if for example someone is searching for a native speaker/writer it would be better to express it in the application requirements, would not be ? In that case a foreigner not enought skilled pilot like me would have never applied. But if the requirement is level 5 english like it was, so is not nice to hear later that maybe I was dismissed because my english level is not at the level of a native speaker. English level should be a requirement, not the object of the selection itself.

I'm not directly involved, but a number of my ex students who are not native English speakers have been selected to the next stage. So that isn't it.

Maybe Titan and Virtual won't give you feed back, but I will.

The tone of your OP is rude and aggressive. I don't care if you scored 95% or what other qualifications you may have, you don't sound like someone I would want to be sealed in a metal box for 14 hours with.

You are also dismissive of the advice you were given. This suggests an attitude problem and perhaps future difficulties accepting training input on non technical skills. In other words you are flagging yourself up as a training risk.

Perhaps a period of thinking about whether you are really as perfect as you think you are might allow a bit more humility to show through the next time you apply for a job.

Yes, we do, as that would substantially improve your chances with applications.

A period of time in an English speaking country would be of great benefit to you.

I suspect that closer scrutiny of the application might say "minimum level 5 English" or words to that effect. I think you need to aim for level 6, and not just a marginal pass.

When I worked as a flying instructor at British Aerospace, Prestwick in the 1990s' one of the contracts was with Cathay Pacific. Native born Hong Kong students were selected in the hope that this would help with the big political picture prior to 1997 et seq.

I recall the advise given to a student on completion of the course, was to find an English speaking girl friend to ensure that his marginal English would improve over time.

Note: TITANCADETSCHEME timed at 0456 was only posted sometime after 1100.. First posting so subject to pprune due process. What appear to be later posts, appeared before TCS was released by the Moderator...

I will not reply more because I already made my point and I don't want to continue this discussion on a personal level with a person that claims the right to be judgemental without even knowing me.

Compliments to all the candidates who will continue the selection, and my suggestion to all others to don't give up!

Regards to everyone and thanks for the suggestions I recived

I can only call it as I see it. It isn't personal; by any objective standard, your OP was as I described it.

Yes, I don't know you. That's why I can only go on what you wrote.

But take note: this is the situation when you fill out an application form.

Maybe you're a great guy face to face. But if you don't want to even consider the possibility that maybe you come across as rude in print, then you proved my point.

You can either take a steer from an old hand or not. Your call. I'm not the one trying for that elusive first job.

I think just the IAGO Thomas Cook Airlines UK Platinum pilot scheme. Your scheme was really nice indeed. Was not this the point.

2) Bearing in mind the above question, do you really feel that you put the absolute maximum best effort you could into your application to our scheme - or did you treat it as just "another" application?
I will be super honest, I didn't grow up dreaming to be a pilot for Titan airways, but when I saw your scheme, I spent almost an intere day to check your airline, your business sectors, your fleet, to prepare my cover letter and to answer in the best way the three questions you proposed in the application form. I am not lying. This is the way I showed my interest in your scheme and I think is not small thing considering that 99% of the time applicants don't even recive answers for their applications and that is really demotivating.

3) How many applications have you made to jobs that received no reply at all? Did you take to the internet to rail against those employers and training providers?
I sent between 50 to 100 applications in these last months. Got around 3-4 replies, just 2 positive. About your scheme I didn't like the things I already explained in my previous messages but at the same time I didn't want to be rude with you in particular. This was just a consequence of the frustrating context that a low hour pilot has to face daily.

However, I completely understand and sympathise with your position. I hope you can take my words as trying to give you a personal response as to why you perhaps didn't quite make our shortlist on this occasion.

We hope to run another cadet scheme in 2018 and we aim to learn from the whole process, and to improve it if necessary, when we conduct a full review of the scheme in due course.

We would welcome your next application in line with the advice that I've offered you.

Titan Airways Fleet Management Office (Airbus).
Thanks a lot for your offer. Regards

@VirtualAviation

Also received the "thanks but no thanks" email, looked through their advice
could possibly tweek CV ,cover letter a bit but not much more.
Can anyone at Virtual Aviaition clarify whether already being rated on one of Titans types but zero hour and already having a MCC/JOC would count as a negative?
I thought if anything would show a reduced training risk.
I will try and attend one of the upcoming opendays and see if I can gain some more personalised advice
Thanks in advance

Certainly not a negative - but as neither a type rating nor MCC/JOC was required for this programme, exceeding the requirements would not necessarily be a benefit either.

I would have thought that not having MCC and a Type Rating would give the airline an excellent opportunity to gain a better appreciation of training needs prior to type and line training.

Presumably, you are only intending to accept one job so yes, I would expect a tailored and focused cover letter for each application.

@virtualaviation. I never received an email. I'm assuming only successful candidates were informed?

We did inform all applicants, successful and unsuccessful.

If you applied and did not receive an email, it might be worth checking your junk mail folder. If there's nothing there, feel free to drop us an email or a private message with your full name and we will re-send the original email.

Anunaki,
Get over it. Even those with 130k in the bank have to pass the tests.

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone else has received an invitation for the online assessment from VA for the Titan Airways Cadet Scheme. Do you guys know how many cadets are they looking to take this year and what to expect in the online assessment?

Many thanks in advance

Regards

I got rejected too saying I was not qualified. Not sure how seeing as I've got 3 type ratings, 2000hours working in a commercial air service overseas!!

All my EASA documents are up to date! Maybe I'm over qualified. Who knows.
