Hi L.B.Z, yes indeed, apparently, you start paying tax with a captain salary when you're single haha
2000€ is just nothing in Switzerland

Check with the tax authority of your country of residence, you might have to pay taxes in your own country as well. If you are Italian you end up paying taxes in Italy for example. Or at least you should (pilots can be stupid sometimes).

Yes Ben78 that's right. The taxation is lower than the other European country. You can have an idea here https://www.lohncomputer.ch/en/.
If you are a commuting pilot, you can deduce a lot of money, and in this case you won't pay any tax before reaching the left hand side of the cockpit.

Switzerland has a lot of conventions concerning double taxation with many European countries, most likely when company is based in Geneva. If you live in France and work in Geneva, you won't pay any tax in France.
I think it only depends where you live. E.g. you are based in Hungary, you pay tax in CH and social contributions in HUG.

Ben78 you mentionned that FO earn 14-15K sector pay ? Are you sure of that ?
I heard that sector pay is only once you are SFO !

Great informationstuff to know thanks for that 😆
I had a look at it already but didn't really understand the fact you cold live in Hungary but I'd your company is based in Switzerland which is the case of wizz for the taxation then you're on the Swiss taxation system.
If however find it logical, the social contribution habe to be in the country of residence

About the sector pay, it'seems written on my letter of engagement so pretty sure about it 😉
Once you become SFO your salary increase in the sector pay and a bit of basic as well
You may get around 45k altogether

No way you will get that much, sorry for bursting your bubble.

People take too easily the swiss tax situation, which is clearly just a way to keep the company costs down, but at the expense of the crews, who might eventually have problems.

And lets not even talk about half of the people, who are on confair contracts, who dont even pay social contributions.

Does anyone out there know now many candidates they have selected and what the total number they are look for?

I have just submitted my paperwork in, and was wondering how many more they are looking for in this final session before they close it all up?

Can't tell how many have been selected so far, but from wizzair's website, they have an agreement with BAA for up to 150 pilots in 5 years...

BAA Training was selected to provide tailored training solutions for WIZZ’s significant demand for future pilots. The five year agreement will recruit up to 150 cadets and will be delivered under EASA Regulations to provide Wizz Air of ATPL integrated graduate pilots.

Dirk 85, as I am a Wizz Air cadet at BAA, all the infos given are the ones written in my letter of engagement. About the Swiss tax, it is also mentionned. Obviously I don't know all the details but it's pretty clear, so... About the social contribution, it's just assumption and I may be wrong

They selected 12 of us so far, no idea how many they ll take for june, but I guess it's more gonna depend on the BAA capacities as there is also Smartlynx cadets.

At the moment, there is not as many candidates as the TOP 3 schools have for their scheme so it makes it less competitive, and I guess as long as you are good enough, you ll get a good chance.

Thank you Charlie and Ben78 for the info.

When individuals on this thread refer the June assessment, is that when the next batch of cadets start at BAA or is that when the final selection of the next batch of cadets is completed, therefore that batch of cadets will start possibly in Aug or Sept?

June is supposed to be the starting date of the course. So final assessment should be before. Once again, that is just theory and there can be some delay, but that is the plan so far.
That is even written on BAA's website I guess

And I am telling you, having worked for them quite a bit, up until three days ago, you will not make that amount of money. And I was SFO...

I am just saying that as SFO you will make in the high 30s, before taxes and social security, on average.
After you have repaid the bond you might get close to the figure you quoted, but you should fly in a base where they fly a lot of legs.
Many bases they have lower salaries because they fly longer sectors.

Yes in those figures I actually counted the bond so without the bond the 35k I quoted were more around 29k with an average of 35 legs per months. Obviously it depends of the legs. So it corresponds more or less to the infos I had apparently

For a FO 35k, but you have to pay the bond, so around 29k, for a SFO it would make around the late 30s as you just said in that case. Is it pretty correct?

Roughly yes, depending on country, base and type of contract.
