Starting February

Ben78 and all others starting mid Feb, I look forward to seeing you all there. I got the email today confirming acceptance. Originally I was going for Wizz but ended up getting the Smartlynx one instead. Letter of engagement on the way with start date of 13th Feb. Extremely excited. I know it's BAA wizz thread but anyone else going on the Smartlynx cadet program? I'm presuming wizz and Smartlynx will all be on same course.

Hi Oscar, congrats, happy to hear that ;-)
We should be mixed indeed, just not ending up with the same airline at the end of the course.
See you there on the 13th mate. Are you in the Facebook group ?

Has/Is anyone of you recently/currently trained/training with BAA?
Is this flight school a good one to join?

I just graduated yesterday for my TR B737 300/900.

Furthermore I did my ab initio training in BAA.

school is a professionaly organised. Personel is very helpful and level of training is good. Most graduates found relatively quickly a job. I have to say that many of them are from former soviet countries. But anyway still they had to go through assessments in those airlines.

Myself I had a great time. So yes they are good.

I would say. Book a ticket and see for yourself.

Hi everyone!
Finally scheduled the dates for the assessment. I'm going to Vilnius at the end of April.
Although I've already talked to one or two of you, if anyone else would like to give me any tips regarding the assessment it would be much appreciated.
Also, for those of you that started last February, what is your opinion about the program and BAA so far?

Hi Charlie,
I am quite happy about the school so far. BAA is not a factory so the contact with the people is really nice. The instructors are good and really nice.
Most of us, who started in February are cadet either smartlynx or Wizz and the atmosphere is good.
I am really happy of my choice.

Hi CharlieSierraMike,
I can only confirm what ben78 has already stated in his post...BAA is a good choice, nice environment and the staff is very much reactive to our needs, nothing to compare with the marketing lab like CAE or CTC.

Hope to see you soon

Next wizz assessment : June
Their website says the next start date is in June, surely the assessment would be a few months before?

The assesment should be over by the end of march, or this is what I understood. Bare in mind that there are two stages, one with baa for two days, if successful, your data are send to Wizz, who will or will not call you for the second assesment.

OK thanks, I can't find exactly where to apply, I just clicked the link saying to book an assessment and put in my email address, this didn't look like the application process at other schools but maybe it is. I got an email saying they'll be back within 24hrs.

Hello. Just wondering if anyone has any current info on Wizz Air FO salary scale. Not sure if PilotJobsNetwork is up to date or not.

Any info would be appreciated. Just looking to work out how affordable loan payments would be.

Cheers.

I am reliably informed it's circa €2000/month

This wasn't actually specified in the information provided to me, however I did presume it was.

Although the salary is low, don't forget you'll be living in eastern europe where living costs are much lower.

Salary as BAA said by mail, would be around 1500 - 2500€ (after counting off the Type rating), and the bond would be for 3 years (Maybe we can ask for more ??). And as you can noticed, on PJnetwork, there is only basic salary for FO until 1500h (almost 2 years), more or less 1665€.....

Anyway, the total price for a PPL licenced is 56K € (reduction of 5K € compared to a 0 hour student), which is much more affordable than CTC (89K €) and with CTC you must have flown 154h before starting the course.
Don't forget living expenses during 2 years in Lithuania or 1 year in UK/USA for CTC!!

I'll be in Vilnius on the 10 and 11 april for the assessment. Is there anyone here for the same days ?

Hi all,

Pilotjobnetwork wages are more or less correct. Don't forget to count the sector pay with the basic. So 20k basic plus around 14-15k sector pay (35 leg again it is on PJN). At the end you end up with 35k brutto. But the taxation is Swiss (from what it has been told) so it's a big advantage. I would say from my calculations, you get around 1800-1900 netto after the TR bond monthly repayment.
I don't know in the UK, but borrowing 60k eur in France is like 700 eur loan repayment per month.
It's not huge but compare to the CTC's training costs, it's that much less. You live in eastern Europe, I can assure you, it's really possible to live correctly with 1200 eur per month here. And after 1500h you're SFO and get more money.

Hi Ben78,
I'm french and I work in switzerland. When U earn less than 2000€ (2200 CHF) in Geneva, you pay no tax !
