Contractors need to do a conversion course and induction incl sims before they go online - they also need to be interviewed and recruited, etc which could take 3 weeks plus to 1 - 2 months to complete.

Don't forget these guys also need to be sourced in the current market .... by which time they will be ready to serve for the summer 2018 hopefully.

I didn't think there were so many A320 people around....I am aware of people they have who are contractors on the 757s.

It would make sense for these contractors to support for the summer....most of the new perm recruits to be called for 2019 maybe...

As said given the need in the market for A320 people, not sure if there are so many A320 guys around ....? i could be wrong and happy to be proved wrong.

Also why go searching for perm guys/girls if you already have A320 pilots flying the line with you as contractors using your SOPS and already fit in the company - why wouldn't they offer these perm places to them - naturally less risk for them and quicker?? This happens in other professions but not massively in aviation are those who are mostly looking for a decent perm job!

Aer Lingus clearly knows as do other airlines that it can treat anyone as they want and many times like s**t - purely because they know the desperation that if they throw out a scrap, there will be 100+ pilots who will run for that....

So wait for the final call - you will know one way or another if its your turn or not.

Did anyone receive any news? I did the group exercises and the interview on the day but still waiting for a date to go on the sim.

I recall they told that by late March there will be more sim sessions but haven´t heard anything so far. So should I start looking elsewhere?

Greetings!

They are amongst the highest in Europe along with a thing called USC, universal social charge which everyone has to pay as the government bailed out the failed Irish banks. I feel silly telling you all of this as you have such a good grasp of the subject.

He is from Ireland...yes, but doesn't fancy living with his parents, if you want to live in an apartment without your parents you have to pay a charge, it's called rent, perhaps you have heard of it in your country or do landlords let you live for free in return for your free tax and sound financial planning advice. Unfortunately, he is not as gifted as you and has to pay €1500 per month for a one bed in a decent area.

No, he is not bonded but all DEP's start on the same salary regardless of previous experience, cadets start on a lower salary as AL deduct training costs from their salary, again I feel silly telling you all of this as no doubt you have researched the subject in preparation for you interview and imminent move to Dublin, perhaps you spent too much time rehearsing Dubliner and Pogues ballads and forgot to check the pay and conditions of the job.

Good luck in you interview, wear a green suit with a T shirt that says "kiss me I'm Irish".
As a retired ALT Pilot I can confirm that Plonkers response above is typical of a Pilot handed his career on a platter......Many many pilots have left this airline for greener pastures....!
An antiquated old boys club attitude still exists it seems....sad....!

Did you attend the interview in Jan/Feb and were waiting for the sim? Because I know at least one person who had a PFO in December, but was called for an interview last week.
Still waiting for the sim or PFO on my side.

Ok guys... it seems there is some movement again. Got the desired call for another round.
I did the group and panel already, so it is time for the interview and sim I suppose...
Great, really looking forward. I keep my fingers crossed for all those of you which are still waiting.

Hi guys any idea the sort of questions they ask in the interview. I know some of you are against sharing interview question, but any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Has anyone received any negative news yet or is it just job offers at present?

I've heard from a guy on the same day as me who received a PFO. I know he didn't make it to the interview on the afternoon, he was hoping to be called for interview and sim (some people here had this opportunity). On my side, still waiting for the sim, or a PFO.

Good luck to all!

Max

Schweizer I think no-one here is going to tell you the exact exercise you're gonna get... not out of fear of competition, but out of decency and unwillingness to destroy a potential future job offer. The employer expects candidates not to share confidential information and breaching that is not something one should even consider. Even if that was not enough reason, it would be very suspicious if you showed up knowing exactly what is going to happen.

HOWEVER

having said that, the phrase 'prepare as you believe is adequate' goes a long way... you already know that it involves a group exercise and panel interview, and a lot of information about these kind of assessments can be found online.

and having said THAT: the assessment is about your personality and wether you will fit in with the company, for a psychological assessment there is not much to prepare for. Naturally you should prepare for the interview, and for that there are also many good sources online to guide you in your preparation.
Bottom line: if the assessor sees you as someone who will fit in with the company, they will pass you. Show teamwork, help others perform well, and never ever try to bull**** your way through a question you dont know the answer to. Because they do know the answer and you will just look like an idiot.

Best of luck!

Wise words. Be natural -they'll know if you know the question so then they'll just change it up slightly and it'll really throw you off.

Apparently they decided to call more candidates in April (200)
This has stalled overall offers - i guess - obvs
Worth another few weeks waiting - no news is good news - aircraft delays so why not offer delays too?
Cadetship just announced also .... fully funded ..... exciting times if you're patient enough.

I emailed them for an update and got the below reply

There was a very large number of applications received and are working through them at present.

We have offered courses up to September and are now working on a hold pool for early 2019.

Why they can’t send a generic email to all applicants updating them on the current situation I don’t know.
