Kura aviation and BA CityFlyer
Seems that Kura aviation an BA CityFlyer have ended up an agreement! Worth a look for modulars CPL/IR holders.

£210-00 assessment fee over two days; followed by 8 weeks’ worth of courses in the UK (2 locations) and Holland, costing £12 350 excluding flights, transfers and accommodation. You will be lucky to get change from 16k sterling for the privilege to get into a holding pool.

Schemes like these are destroying the industry and lining pockets of businessmen. Your local flying school can't compete, causing them to shut down and adding to the statistics of pilots out of work.

Read the wording carefully, this whole process will only get you put forward to the BACF selection process, it is doesn't even guarantee a place in the hold pool.

Well you could say that schemes like this are destroying the industry and probably yes but just like people who go Integrated with one of the 3 biggest school and then go to the likes of Volotea or hall of them to Ryanair.
This scheme is far less expensive and bear in mind that you can still apply to Ryanair, Flybe...

Flybe and the Simtech JOC arrangement, again another revenue generating scheme for a third party training organisation.
A JOC is not a usable rating, it just gives owners of non-approved sims a good excuse to generate revenue.
Flybe (or British European) and the previous incarnation of BA Cityflyer at one point (prior to JAA) use to happily take on 1000 hour instructors with out the need for a JOC course.

I was being sarcastic when I asked what the type rating should cost! I was trying to convey that paying around the 15-16k mark (all in) for an 8 week course, for the privilege of getting an interview and possibly a job, was not a good deal.
You may be surprised to know that they also offer the same service to get modular pilots into Flybe. Flybe has been recruiting pilots with 200 hours from modular schools for years; without the need for this elaborate course from Kura aviation.
If you’re going to place someone in a 737 sim for 40 hours in Holland on this glorified JOC course, why not just Type Rate them on the aircraft for the intended airline? At least the poor buggers will have something to show for their 8 weeks off work and their 15-16k.
This is just an “ATP- like” scheme in disguise and is a lot more expensive.
All in my own humble opinion of course and all the usual disclaimers.

If you are still looking for an airline job and have £16,000 lying around (check behind the cushion on the sofa – that’s where I always find mine), I’d suggest there are better ways of spending it than buying a course that nobody recognises.
Irrespective of how good/useful the content might be – if it’s not officially recognised by numerous airlines then it is worthless.
Here are a list of other courses which are cheaper, and are just as equally not recognised by any airline (with the exception of BA CityFlyer it seems) :

A valid and fair point portsharbourflyer.
Also, as a Taxidermist you'd be tearing out the hearts of small harmless creatures, bleeding them dry, and then filling them full of useless fluff, before sending them on their way with empty, staring eyes.....which is ironic really as that's pretty much exactly what these training organisations do to wannabes.

I wonder whether they (BACF) still send their successful new-hires from this scheme down to FTE for an additional JOC? Seems like everyone hired over the last couple of years has had to do it, regardless of whether they'd already done one. That said, they've paid them while doing it, and it's a nice place to be for a month or so.

I personally know 1 former classmate that was recently (last month) hired by BA Cityflyer through Kura. He had finished his training over 4 years ago and didn't get in anywhere.
2 others I know got in with FlyBe last month (also both finished their training some time ago) through Kura.
They didn't do the whole course but only did the interview training since they already had an AJFC.
Not connected in anyway to this KURA but still it seems they do have some connections at at least FLyBe and BACityflyer?!?! Anyone else got more info??

Kura kudos
Some time ago I paid Kura to help me prep for an interview and group exercise assessment at a large airline based at LHR.
It cost less than an hour of MPL training and was extremely useful. I got a lot of one-to-one time as well as excellent guidance material. Kura helped me show the very best of myself. I am now flying an Airbus in one of the most secure jobs in Aviation.
Money is a massive factor in flight training but please look at the big picture over the long term.
And stop whinging. No one likes to sit next to a whinger ✈️

Whilst a JOC is not required by law it is often a pre-requisit for an airlines entry requirements. It is most certainly a useful course when conducted by a reputable company on a good simulator. Very often it can mean the difference between getting an interview and not especially if the airline knows the JOC provider.
Besides the above, when put through a simulator assessment, the applicants who have been through a good JOC course on representative type will almost always perform better than someone who has not.
