Regarding having a choice, you are right, sometimes you don't have any...

About the agency, I think I wasn't very clear, the way I meant it was that you are directly employed and tied to that specific agency. Doing the work they ask you to do compliant with whatever law. So not in the way like you are ''offering'' YOUR services to the agency through your ''company'' like FR or whatever. Which would make you self employed. That is why I made the comparison to the other industries. Now its the thing if this would practically be possible, I don't know.... but that wasn't the point I was making.Edit: Couldn't find the word, but payrolling is what I basically meant.

P.S: Regarding your comments from the previous page being deleted (and mine as well), Im glad they did. ;-)

From colleague to colleague Lexsis, it is against law. Whatever you are trying to say, we both know it . You are working LIKE an employee. Thats the only thing which counts in EVERY country, believe me.
Lets face it again: Confair is illegal, thats fact and thats what wizzair knows as I can see the ongoing contract offers for all employees.
Thats why not a single clear thinking human being ever paid back the bond after quitting within these 3 years of TR bond. One email ( i have it here ) by a person that he will pay back all TR costs AFTER a governmental institution has crosschecked all contract details, paid "salaries" and reviewing the schedules (evidence for normal employment) and of course calculated the amount of social contributions and taxes confair has to pay back, he never ever heard anything by those weird people.

PS. I'm on local contract, SFO, paying roughly 30% taxes and socials in the country where I am based PLUS swiss tax because theres no agreement (650€/month), netting between 2700 and 3100€/month.
After I paid an extra health insurance for europe to have the ability to visit a western doctor, another 140€ are gone.
after all this i WILL pay some stuff in my country of residence as soon as they figure out how much because of double living costs, already paid taxes etc. shouldn't be much.

For gaining experience and fast command its ok. First job at home and i am gone, fact as well, even without command if its rigth at my hometown.

Concerning salary issues in western countries. Wizzair increased the sector pay according living costs in some countries. the cpt of my last OPC showed me the payscale for LTN based CPTs. beside the basic salary, a CPT gets 194€ per sector plus the increments accoring duration (+ 20%/40%/60%) of the sector in the first year. thats extra 7k/month for 35 sectors with just standard sectors.
Another example: wizz just increased the basic salaries in Romania, as the goverment raised the social contributions tremeandously for employees. Now everybody will net the same as he did last year.
According this i am pretty convinced that the vienna based pilots will have a special sector pay as well.

assessment is easy peasy. as NTR the sim is just some flying around, hold a speed, climb descent, some basic IFR radial intercepts and thats it. i didnt prepare and they sent me out after 15mins.
2 interviews for all candidates. and OF COURSE they differ between TR and NTR during technical interview, what a question....
a group exercise like everywhere else and the personal interview. "How could you safe money for wizzair, why wizz, why you bla bla bla)
PS: the telephone interview is only to see if you are able to speak some english in advance. of course its never wrong to have some extra answers in your repertoir (why wizz etc.).

cya chaps

On local and not on Confair, but I see your point.
And off course every situation is different :-)

I know it is very hard and unpleasant to hear the truth that you don't want to hear. You just got your first job with an AIRLINE and its a big step in your life and you are committed to make the best out of any situation, stay pro-active and positive.

The last thing you want to hear some negative feedback from your older "bitter" colleagues. Been there, felt like that.

Its only years later that you realise that this or that captain who was labeled crazy or troublemaker who came to your company from a legacy airline was actually the only person in your surroundings who knew what he was talking about.

It is a great thing to get your first flying job on the A320. It is really great to fly passengers on a line flight for the first time and have those hot cabin crew (ok they were all super-young 10 years ago) serving you coffee and what not...

But realise this, the company you are working for, has exactly calculated this: for your first airline job, uniform and a few pretty girls in the cabin you'll be happy to do things nobody else would.

Like working on your OFF days, accepting inadequate pay and no sick leave or social security (I am not saying this is the situation on your particular contract now, but it was in the past and it will be the case if they can pull it off), take a base change, work on a contract that is illegal, do pretty much anything for a chance of that left seat.

Make no mistake, this is how they operate, this is their business model and this is how they make money. They are good at that. Many of my friends have invested money in Wizz Air but would not fly for them.

So enjoy the flying, but do realise that because you enjoy something, it doesn't make it legal. Spend some time NOW to educate yourself about your tax situation, social security etc Have some plan in place.

And whatever you do, get out of there before the system has converted you and you start to think that Wizz Air is as good as it gets for a pilot because it is really really not.

Luckily that's all set.
I will see how everything goes in the future. I do like to think that everybody is different, I might like it, I might not, time will tell...

And off course you can see what the mindset is within the company, you work, you get paid. Simple as that. Regarding sick pay etc, people know what the conditions are whether local or agency.

No clue about how it used to be when you worked there regarding contracts and so on, but I am happy with the choice I have made now. And I think that is playing it safer than going all contractor. Whether or not the agency stuff is legal or not, Im leaving this in the middle, lets first wait and see what some countries are gonna do in the foreseeable future....

Thank you for your input Skipping classes.

I'd think the likes of Volotea are much worse.

Luton contract at Wizz is getting closer to the likes of EZY etc. (Will be interesting to see the deal for the Vienna base!)
Staff travel is decent on the network, and depending on your base, you might get lucky and have a crew meal that can be eaten.

I never quite understood why one has to split the jet from the prop operators when it comes to salary, a job is a job, does it matter what aircraft you operate?
If anything, pilots at the likes of Flybe probably work a lot harder than most Jet pilots in the UK and I am sure their salary doesn't reflect it!

Loss of licence, staff travel, free commuting home (if you don't live in your home country), food, water, plenty of roster choices, great training department, free medical, licensing, uniform, badge etc etc etc does help... you know, the stuff the mighty Irish don't offer! I once heard a rumour that RYR pilots pay for the Sim??

But yes, the money is rubbish but has been improving. With 240 aircraft on order, things will only have to get better or they'd keep shedding pilots.

Hard to say if one should recommend Wizz, the atmosphere is positive but does the reward compensate for the hard work? I'd probably say not.

And how do you feel about firing 30 cabin-crew after they tried to form a union? And the pilots saying that those cabin crew got what they deserved? Just to give you one example. Is this a positive environment? This is just one example of 100s.

You really have got some beef with Wizz haven't ya?

No one wants to see colleagues get the sack, I for one am pro union, but you are really living on another planet if you think Wizz are the only ones who have done this!

Didn't RYR threaten the sack if you wanted to be part of a union?
Didn't Cathay sack a whole bunch of pilots for industrial action?

Just there, two examples, a low cost and a legacy airline, this virus exists everywhere.
This isn't limited to Europe, didn't airlines in America give involuntary furlough to staff during the bad periods?

Finding negatives in ANY company in ANY industry is easy, actually looking at the good stuff usually comes once you have left a company.

Oh, and I am sure job security is great at the big ME3 if you have an average day in the sim.

Based on those figures, I can tell you that the luton based FO's have a higher take home, and yes with LOL etc etc. Guess that means Wizz isn't the worst paying job out there.

Then I guess you are basing your accusations on a guess.
You'll find the UK base pilots are getting those figures.

You say it twice, once as a 'jet' and once as a general job.

If he was on a LOCAL contract and not that Confair rubbish, then he should be hitting those numbers. Unless he's been pulling off a lot of sickies and not getting his sector pay in.

I got it about 1,5 month before the company intro course. Also the base where you do your linetraining might be different than your base after your line check.

Hi guys,

Sorry it's true I didn't read everything on this thread that is now reaching 23 pages, (only the last 4 pages and other thread) but I have a few questions for those who still like Wizzair and are not ONLY in the salary debate..

I was at a pilot open day in Bucharest (last 24th of January) and at the first session there where only about 40 people and more than 50% were applying for Capt fast track, 10% didn't met the requirements and were just taking infos, other were looking for FO or SFO depending of previous XP..

- Does somebody know where we are this year with the recruitment of Non-rated (experienced) FO ?
- The number they are planning to recruit this year ?

It seems that they are mostly looking for Capt as everywhere else.. But said nothing about how many FO they where looking for...

-Does someone received an interview/assessment date for a FO position lately ? and if so how long after an open day, and which one ?

- Was someone here on the second session that day ? how many people ?

Thank you guys !
Cheers

Hi,

I was also at the same event in Bucharest.
Yes, they did talk about the Captain roles more but i think that was mostly because there were more captains there then FOs.
To be honest, i am not disappointed that there were so few looking for the cadet role.
i think the are lookkng more to recruit cadets so they can train them as they please. But that’s just my point of view.

I didn’t leave any CV because i am waiting to finish my MCC and JOC and there was no point leaving one there without meeting the requirements.

Don’t count on them contacting you from that Open Day, you should also submit throught their career page if ypu haven’t yet, that is if you meet all the requirements.

As long as you meet the requirements for one of the entry routes, be it DEC or cadet, you will most likely get invited for an interview.

Each recruitment day is NOT a competition, they simply need you to pass the selection process and you will be offered a position.

As for numbers? They can't find enough at the moment.

Good luck...
