I think Vardi and O’Leary might have a competition going on who can be the biggest in low-cost. Not sure who’s winning..🤔 didn’t the Ryanair pilots agree on a 4 year reduction deal to retain jobs? How does that go hand I hand with hiring new cadets?

Good question. You would expect that in exchange for the 4 year wage freeze they would have negotiated, collectively, that for those 4 years no new cadets would be hired, or only once each and every crew member would be flying a full roster.

Yeah same time must be better to go for what’s available instead of waiting for something like a pan European thing that may never happen. Easy to end up like the guy sitting under the coconut tree on a deserted island waiting for a daring rescue that may never happen going for that option. Always heavy to think about these things but all in all should be far easier today considering the provisions are already there in contrast to earlier where they had to cut out the provisions for the first time. In the end, it boils down to common sense and not doing silly things considering the cut throat cost-cutting climate in place.

Union is difficult when you have different languages, cultures, salary needs, living costs and contracts. Big Europe plays into the hands of greedy business men with global ambitions. The lowest common denominator becomes the benchmark. There are many advantages of the EU but this is one of the downsides of the EU, time to admit it.

With the ever increasing involvement on the Italian market are there any news regarding ANPAC talks with Wizz or it's pilot's? I know this may be far fetched and we are in a middle of a pandemic but back in 2018 they've managed to get a CLA for Ryanair pilots as well.

I have no idea however absolutely nothing is happening in the UK: both wzz and BALPA are pretending that the other party doesn't exist.

Mind you BALPA is closing it's eye on VA's recent seasonal contracts as well...

Post-covid aviation/employment scene is going to look nothing like before and I'm afraid it's not going to be for the better.

booze, ANPAC or any other italian union can’t do nothing without subscribers , and as soon they realize that someone is dealing with union , well you know , bad apple good apple came into play.
They should sign in mass an let the company discover it the next day .

Well, you can't help them if they are not willing to help themselves.

I have personally seen recently cabin crew and pilot unions in Italy "targeting" wizzair crews in front of the terminal, offering help, even anonimously. One hour later the Wizz base manager was there, and everybody was terrified to even get close.
Less than a week later the big guns from Budapest came to base for a "friendly" meeting as well.

I heard any airline based in Italy now has to employ their crews on local contracts. Surely that means union involvement so what’s the deal with Wizz? They have to sort it out somehow. Will be interesting to follow on the sidelines as any sort of fair competition in Italy will be impossible if they’re allowed to circumvent it.

They already have a local contract, since they opened their bases there. Like they do in every country they operate from. If you want an agency contract that's always been a choice of the pilot. No need for union though, it's a take it or leave it deal. And they can and will change it anytime they want, at their sole discrection.

Okay. I see why they’re desperate to keep out Anpac. Both Ezy and Ryan are unionised with good conditions. Difficult to argue why Wizz shouldn’t be able to offer the same. But yes it requires the employees to collectively but their feet down..

Leisure flights from OSL (Spliti, Larnaca, Chania, Alicante, Gran Canaria) are gone as well.

Such a shame.

About time someone showed them they can’t just walk in and do as they please.

Base closing on the 14th. Funny how that works when there was an HSE audit scheduled for the 16th. Their «base» had the planes overnighting at OSL and crews flown in from GDN for extended hotel stays.
