The Historian
This is the closest, about a mile away if that - The Pilgrim Inn - Bedrooms

Not particularly cheap though.

Ashb what date is your assessment?

Good luck to everyone still waiting for a reply.

The only 2 choices it gave me were either Monday 8th Dec or Wednesday 10th- I chose the Wednesday.

The 'you've passed' email that they sent me seemed to be quite pushy as to booking your assessment as soon as possible, with it almost threatening that you won't be able to book a place if you leave it too long. Maybe I've just misinterpreted it, but I'd have thought that they would have ensured there would be space for everyone that they put through.

TheHistorian I stayed at Dibden manor itself for my assessment day. If you read the email inviting you to stage 2 it says that if you contact CTC they can help arrange accommodation. I paid about £60 for a room including dinner the evening before and breakfast on the morning of the assessment. The room was nice and I definitely felt a lot more comfortable on the day having had the night before to settle in and chat to current students at dinner. I'd recommend it if that's an option.

Erm, I'd allow til 17.30 just to be on the safe side. Some of us finished earlier and some had to wait for their interview. Good luck!

Does anybody know if everyone gets through to ththe afternoon interview? I'm just a little bit confused... The email I've got suggests that everyone will be seen for an interview, but then some of the other literature they send out says that only people to pass the morning section will get an interview. If anyone that's been could help out, that'd be great!

Yes, everybody goes through to the interview in the afternoon.
They start after lunch around 1.30pm.
One on one.
They had three different interviewers each interviewing a candidate.
I was last to go and had to stick around till 4.30pm and finished at 5pm.

You then get an email to say what you passed:
Group exercises, Numeracy, Pilpat and Interview

They also follow up with a telephone call with more details.

So, you do get good feedback both good and bad for you 245 GBP.

So I'm not the only one logging into CTC, email refresh, junk mail refresh then repeat the cycle?

Certainly not. Although 3 weeks seems to be longer than other cadets have waited to hear a response, I think we just have to be patient

Same here, submitted my application on the 15th and been on hold for just over a week now. I keep wondering if being on hold for so long is a bad thing, considering some people went through after a few days on hold... there's no point in trying to second guess it though, as you say, we'll just have to remain patient!

Certainly not going to miss checking my e-mails every 5mins!

VLT: Seems strange that some of you have been on hold for so long now? I think I was only on hold for 4/5 days. Im going down for assessment on 10th December. Has anyone else got dates for their assessment/interview with Virgin?

Still "On Hold". I guess as others before me have mentioned, as long as we're on hold, there may be a chance of getting through.

I'll just keep on checking my application every hour hoping that I will have an answer soon.

had my assessment today, I'd love to tell you guys everything that happened but as per request of CTC I can't.

Lovely people who make you feel relaxed (as is possible)

there is a presentation by ctc and virgin at the beginning of the day and after day one group does a group activity whilst the other does PILAPT, and then you switch.

After lunch is the one v one interviews.

im not confident, I let myself down on the PILAPT but feel I did well in the interviews.

good luck to everyone who is left!

CTC Assessment Finishing Time

For those planning return journeys / flights after your assessment day at Dibden Manor, I didn't finish my interview until 1730. However if you do need to be away slightly early let the staff know as soon as you can and they will do their best to accommodate you when it comes to arranging an earlier interview slot. I believe that on my assessment day they only drew up the schedule during the lunch break and ensured an early interview slot for one of the candidates that was due to fly out again that evening.

Salary

Hi, can anyone confirm something posted earlier in this thread regarding pay. That once you've been successful in the selection process, you commit a £100,000 plus security bond, then receive no pay for eighteen months whilst training (all explained in the job description) but after this eighteen month training period you are then only paid £27,500 for 7 years? Seems a rather moderate salary for such a long period of time, Thanks in anticipation.

Because it's so competitive, say someone fails numeracy but does extremely well on other sections, the fact that they failed one thing means they prob won't end up going to the Virgin interviews, am I right in assuming that? Fail one thing and that's it game over, what do you guys think?
