Has anyone been through the process before?? Is it aptitude testing for the lucky ones or tech interview??

I ve applied yerstday: 320 total flight time MCC JOC 93% ATPL results english level 5. But i think the'll call english guy.

I think you could have a point there Aleboni. I think Ryanair are the only airline in the world that doesn't favour their own residents!!!

Flybe are not in the least bit protectionist about jobs for locals.

At the BALPA conference many years back there was a very well known presentation from a 23 yr old Italian girl who had secured employment with Flybe. So the thing about Flybe favouring the English does not really hold.

Flybe would frequently overlook high hour instructors based near Exeter in favour of low hours grads from CABAIR in the past, then wonder why they had crew retention problems as former CABAIR graduates disappeared to Easyjet once the bond was up / or had the required time. Quite the opposite to Loganair who I believe actively recruit Instructors based in Scotland. With CABAIR now gone I wonder who Flybe have as the preferred training provider.

Plenty of Europeans working for any number of UK based operators. I think you will find the language requirement for nearly all French, most German, most Spanish and most Scandinavian Airlines pretty much rules out working in Europe for most of the Brits. That is the big joke about the EASA / JAA licences allowed the Mainland Europeans to work in the UK, but on the whole didn't give the populous of pilots here in Angleterre full access to all of Main land Europe.

I have no objections to Airlines protecting jobs for the locals, but I do object to Europeans throwing accusations of protectionism at UK operators, when this is about the one country in Europe where the Airlines do not have any "protectionist policies in place".

Within the company, it doesn't matter who are you or where you come from!!

It is a great place to start a career, although over the last few years, with the distinct lack of movement around and abouts, quite a few have opted to make it into a full career.

With the rumoured numbers heading off to new places eventually, there'll be a decent number of forthcoming vacancies too.

Well said Portsharbourflyer. Accusing UK airlines of protectionism in terms of recruitment is totally unfair when one looks at what's happening elsewhere within the EU.

It wasn't a statement, it was more of a query!! Apologies if the more sensitive took offence to it, wasn't meant as that. And I think you will find Ryanair is probably the biggest airline which doesn't favour their nationals. My humble opinion of coarse.

Hi all

Just wondering if I could trouble anyone in the know for a bit of info regarding the Flybe DE F/O recruitment campaign:

The notification on the website states that each applicant should have completed a JOC, I am aware that some airlines that require candidates to complete a JOC will only accept JOCs completed at certain training organisations or which involve a minimum number of hours in the simulator ie only JOCs involving at least 16 hours in the simulator will be acceptable. Do Flybe have such restrictions or is any JOC from any training organisation acceptable?

In the past when Flybe has recruited DE F/Os, there has been a currency restriction based on the number of hours flown in recent months, ie every applicant must have flown a minimum of 50 hours in the preceding 12 months. There is no such restriction on the current recruitment spec, is there such a currency restriction for this recruitment campaign?

Have tried contacting their HR department but just get an automated response referring me back to the job spec on their website.

They are asking for that in the questionnaire.

Does anybody know at which stage of the recruitment process they are attempting to contact people from the reference list? Are they asking for permission to contact your current employer?

I'm sure the medical won't prove to be too much of an issue.

50hr in the last 12 months... I myself and others that have been out of training for a while won't be getting a call back.

Lets not get too negative just yet. If they'd have wanted 50hrs in the last year I'm sure they would've put that on the requirements along with the 90% minimum ground school results.

Regarding the JOC...does anybody know if it is applicable to every FO applying or just for "cadets"?
Any recommendation to get it quickly and for good value?

I am wondering, why they do require JOC after all. Are they in posesion of jet version of Dash 8 or this is a neat strategy to suck more money from us and to revitalize the JOC training market once again (after last year's peak due to Wizzair's recruitment)? Any clues?

Wow those british applications are a nightmare! But hey, there is a job opportunity, shure we will swallow this as well.
Very nice to see there is some movement in the market. Hopefully some of us will get a call or a positiv mail.
