As far as I know there haven’t been any changes. I was BMI, and I know handful of people went to Flybe. BMI was jet, so the majority of ex employees went to Loganair on the Embraer, or to BA CityFlyer. Dribs and drabs went to Ryanair, Thomas Cook, etc. Sadly, Flybe didn’t jump-in quick enough to actively recruit ex BMI crew, so most had already been swallowed up by Loganair and BA CityFlyer by the time they’d acted. Shame, because their Manchester, Birmingham and Exeter bases would have been extremely attractive to ex BMI crew.

Hi there Lars, your Private message box is full, so I'll write something on here.
- Yes, Flybe covers the Type raiting cost of 18000£ and the bonding period is of 5 years.
- I started there with 220 hrs as FO, so you can expect around 2500£ for the first month on Line Flying.
- Roster is variable but keeps to be like 5-3 or 4-2 mostly i'll say.
First tip I can give to you is to be just your self on the interview, cuz is the most important part I'll say, be positive, friendly and be the person that a company would like to have in, an attitude that will bring you to be a captain.
Try to do some sim hours before the assessment so you can feel more comfortable and less stressed, as you will be. For the sim you can expect a Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh, Dublin or Birmingham I'll say SID, after that some manouverse and an ILS to land, it's not difficult and they don't expect you to fly it to the perfection... so just keep it up, be ahead and do your best. You will make mistakes and they expect that, but the most important thing is how do you react after the mistake... so stay calm and focused till the end, TILL THE END.

A bit dissapointed as It seems like an opportunity to work with Flybe is now barely impossible for me. Not passed CV selection, meaning I can apply in 6 months however they have a "50h in the last 12 months" requirement which is not attainable for people on a budget who have finished training 6 months ago. I have good ATPL results, 87% average with 2 resits on different subjects. What may have influenced is that I "partialled" my CPL and ME-IR skill tests, 1 series second attempt on both. Anyone else in a similar situation, applied but didn't get a chance on an interview/online assessment?

Hold pool
Hey guys,
i was wondering if any of the people who have been successful recently at the interview had been placed into the hold pool. If so was looking to see how long roughly you have been in the hold pool for and if you have been given any update of potential start dates!.

Hi guys,
Do you have any idea of the next type rating courses available in case we succeed at the assessment ? I've heard rumours that there was quite a lot of delays due to the phasing out of the e-jets, as they have to re-qualify all the jet pilots on the Dash 8... Any idea of how long it is after selection ? Has anyone passed recently and has been offered a starting date, just to have a rough idea ?

As an assumption, I reckon now Ryanair has closed it’s cadet scheme, Flybe will be getting a lot more applications from newly-qualified pilots.
I heard from a friend that their Manchester and Birmingham bases are currently full, as a lot of the ex E-Jet crews are already there and are transferring to the props. They’ll probably try and get new starters to take Newquay, Isle of Man, or Belfast.
I was told that if you specify you want a base that’s already full, you’ll be in a hold pool until that base has a vacancy. But if you want a less desirable base (CWL, IOM, BHD), your wait for a start date will be much shorter. Even so, I know there’s major crew attrition to Jet2, BA, TUI, etc, so the wait for bases shouldn’t be much of an issue. Sim and trainer availability is probably the largest contributor to the length in the hold pool.

Just wondering when you had your interview and how long you’ve been in the hold pool for? Im
currently in the same situation awaiting for the elusive start date.

My interview wasn't too long ago but was expecting a quick turn around with how quickly I got the email saying I was successful. Just a shame things have slowed up due to the E-Jets leaving the fleet. Hopefully we both get a start date soon

I applied about a fortnight ago as a direct entry, but no reply as of yet.
I emailed the HR contact before then with a few minor queries, and they replied within an hour or so. Some of their people are really on the ball.
When my old airline went bust, I did some dealings with Flybe. They genuinely did their best to help us out, and they offered interviews within a couple of days of applying. Sadly, Flybe offered interview dates that were just too late, and most of the unemployed pilots had offers from other airlines well before then. It was a shame, because they’d have cashed in on plenty of crew for all of their UK bases. Still, I have full confidence they’ll get to everyone at some point.
