Hi all,
I got an invitation to the „flybe Assessment Direct Entry First Officers” – yeah.
But they want me to convert my German License (EASA) to a UK License (EASA) BEFORE I attend the assessment:
“Please be aware that you will be required to convert your German Licence to a UK EASA Licence prior to coming in for selection as this is one of the terms of employment. For further information on this subject, please read the following link:”
Has anyone the same requirement over even experience with the conversion?

If I am not mistaken, conversion of German EASA to UK EASA is currently not possible to due German data protection act which prevents medical details disclosure to UK CAA.
https://www.caa.co.uk/Commercial-ind...te-or-licence/
So you need an initial UK class 1 medical in this case.

Flybe
Hi guys, just after some words of advice.
I just received an email from CTC today saying that I have passed phase 1 and now need to book on phase2. Does anyone out there know when these dates are posted for phase 2 as there are no free dates displayed.
Also, anyone got any tips on what to expect with a CTC selection day?
Maybe another good question when I'm here, what's the latest low down on working with Flybe if you were lucky enough to get through??
Thanks all in advance.

Anyone passing their assessment with Flybe will be looking at a start date post January 2017. There is now a holding pool for starters with preference given to direct entry captains.

Hi Bloated Stomach
Are you currently working for Flybe? Will you be able to shed any light on the CTC assessment? Got an assessment soon and don't want to mess it up, it's my only way to work back home.
Thank you in advance

Rejected
Just received a random rejection from Flybe/CTC.
Anyone else had one of these?
So... after diligently applying the day recruitment opened in June 2014, fulfilling all the weird and wonderful criteria that were stipulated; two recommendations from senior Flybe pilots to HR... then forced to reapply through the CTC system a few months ago - I get a standard PFO without feedback.
Oh... and I forgot to add the joke of an open day I attended a few months back, too. No one from Flybe bothered to turn up and it was ran by some CTC marketing type who proceeded to tell all the attendees that if you had been qualified more than a year or didn't have multicrew time you were as good as dead to Flybe.
But CTC were only too glad to help you for the princely sum of 10k and to let you join their ATP scheme! All so you could redo your MCC/JOC, then be referred to only Flybe or Ryanair if you're not a CTC CPL/IR holder.
Very nice Flybe!
Really good way to treat people.

Hey Poose
Really sorry to hear this news, it's a real kick in the teeth for sure, tho I think in this industry we are all to well used to the PFO letters.
Do you think this is Flybe related or purely a CTC stunt?

I am really curious if any other "none-UK application" will really transfer the license to the CAA BEFORE(!) getting the contract?

Downloading,
Probably... I'd say CTC are playing on the fact that they want to be the go to guys for pilots and are trying to fill up their ATP pool, by getting the guys on these open days to shell out for their scheme; just in case the airlines had to open up their recruitment to the average guy in the street - how dare they?!
Only my opinion, but that was the gut feeling I came away with.
I've got lots of friends who have been through this new CTC system. A couple of them have been successful, one was a fairly recent out of training lad - which ties in with what the guy said at my open day. The other was a CTC graduate of old, who was contacted out of the blue, some years after finishing his training.
All the other guys I know who have been down have similar tales, of ten to twelve people on the selection varying backgrounds etc. These lads were all experienced turboprop pilots from other reputable operators just looking for a break into the airlines and all were failed on the aptitude test or sim a few weeks later.
They noted the mixture of all backgrounds of those on the day, but it's quite often the experienced guys getting sent on their way by lunchtime as they've been failed on that aptitude test.
I do wonder if the senior people at Flybe are aware of the calibre of people being turned away by CTC on a whim at this selection over silly tests that didn't even exist when Flybe did their own recruitment - or in my case not even passing the paper sift.
