About the same as most cadetships: small.
The only number I have seen quoted is 89 places for 3200 applicants:

That is what I expected ... For example with my engineer degree (meng) in financial maths, 5 years of work experience as software engineer in a bank, and my flight experience (162h), I hadn't shortlisted for this MPL sessions ...
Just an other question, for CAE application, when you have send by mail your pdf application, do you receive an e-mail to confirm your application is ok ?

hi pegasus617 and ben1, i have also attended the CTC assessment day and have been informed that i am on the shortlist for the Easyjet MPL programme 
, just out of interest what kind of ages are you guys ? also how many people did you have on your assessment day ?
if anyone has any information on a rough estimate of applicants for this years programme this would be great !

out of interest, why are people so focused on age?
and i also remember that last year, they shortlisted 50 people for the 36 places. But before people think 'great, much less competition', out of that 50 they didn't actually find 36 people they liked, so had to open up selection again. Its not a case of just trying to be better than 14 other people.

i'm on the easyJet scheme from last year, currently in NZ, and i can tell you there is such a broad variety of ages. Yes, the average is definitely below 30, but there are still a few people much older, and there are also a few 19 year olds as well. If you're good enough and have what easyJet are looking for, then you'll be absolutely fine. No point in imagining hurdles.

Most people get "shortlisted". When you are told you are unsuccessful, they pitch you one of their self funded schemes. You are more likely to be persuaded to buy if you think you have "got what it takes".

That's a shame if true, and it's one of the reasons I think airlines should always help with the funding side of things themselves if they're going to have a tagged scheme at all. I know we could go on all day about airlines being businesses and whatnot. Of course they are. But it does seem somewhat self-defeating to open a cadet programme, which is presumably designed to find the highest quality of candidates, only to then present the same financial barriers to said hopefuls as would otherwise exist without a cadet programme in the first place. Because otherwise all you're really getting is the best of those who can afford it, which largely already exist graduating from the current triopoly of integrated FTOs in abundance.

Would anyone currently on the CTC MPL be able to clarify whether the first 8 month period where you earn around £1200 per month applies to MPL graduates or do MPL cadets go straight onto hourly payments? I think I read somewhere that it is for un-tagged Wings cadets and has something to do with paying for the type rating, and on the CTC website there is no mention of it.

I recall at luton last year that several people had tried and failed at the last stage with oxford, were given feedback and then allowed to attend lagain only a matter of weeks later to another luton selection day with ctc. Ridiculous.
I'm not sure if these candidates were selected but that was a huge flaw in the selection in my opinion. Thankfully they have stopped it this year I believe?
Also it seems absurd to me that CTC are inviting people for interviews at didben and creating shortlists, with limited selection days left, when the application window has only just closed. This won't ensure that you get the best people going forward to further selection days, only the best people that applied within the first few days of the window.
It just seems to me that CTC are more eager to fill the places quickly and that quality of candidates is less important, when it should be the opposite way around.
Again I don't know who was selected exactly but can say there were a broad range of ages during selection last year.

If they have already seen people that by far exceed the standard, why shouldn't they start putting them on the shortlist? By no means are they completely filling it up with the early applications, but they have been doing recruitment for a bloody long time, and know exactly what they and the airlines are looking for. Hence they are able to use this experience to identify candidates that they know are the right ones. There will be people from the first few days that only get shortlisted once everyone has been seen. I was on the second to last selection day last year (from the first round), and got shortlisted, along with most of the people that made it to the interview stage. And bear in mind, they only invited 120 people to do selection at Dibden, and shortlisted 50. so if they see a few people they like early on, they can offer them a space, with more than enough places remaining. They know how tough selection is, and that not all 120 people will pass (6/12 on my day). So shortlisting people early is a complete non-issue. Caveat being i don't know the numbers this time around, but it will be similar. I don't think its a case of just trying to fill spaces, as they get so many applications that will never ever be a problem.
My advice would be to please just concentrate on yourself. If you decide to concentrate on trying to 'play the game', get too focused on age and how many other people you are contending with, your performance will slip. Go and try your best, and if you have what they are looking for, you will go all the way. If you go and try your best and still don't make it, then yes its disappointing, but use it as an experience, learn from it to be even better the next time (took me 3 goes). Or you can sit there and be bitter, saying you were too old or the recruitment process was unfair. Because after all being bitter is a very valuable quality for pilots.

Hi all,
Around 2 weeks ago I've noticed that the easyJet MPL program was extended at OAA till the 26th May. I have applied last week, but till today I haven't heard anything back from OAA, is it supposed to receive some sort of confirmation after sending the application?

I don't think you do get a reply after sending in the PDF, I think they will be in touch shortly to let you know the outcome. Have you tried phoning the ground school you applied with? They should be able to tell you whether they received your application or not.

Yes I did phone them this morning, and a person from the skills assessment picked up and because last Monday was a holiday (which I totally forgot about), they are continuing the screening process from Tuesday and while on the phone she confirmed that my application has arrived too.
So now I'll just have to wait for the outcome I guess.
