All my applications have been with Oxford to date, based on the principle that I know more about their tests and selection processes than say CTC / FTE.
But its hard not to notice that CTC do a much better job of selling themselves on Social Media. Looking at that tweet, it was then followed up with one about wishing the FPP good luck with the result.
Their Facebook chats are also very interesting, as well as publishing their student blogs. The blogs give a real incite into to expect as a Cadet and I think that Oxford are missing something by not doing it.

Forgive me for straying perhaps into MPL vs ATPL territory, but I was under the impression that an MPL can be converted into an ATPL after 1500 hours, which is a requirement if you are to go for a command later on in your career...does this still hold true, or have I been misinformed?! Thanks!

The MPL course will leave you with a 'frozen ATPL' you have to do 1500 hours to get it unfrozen and until it is unfrozen you are not eligible for command.
Hope that clears it up.

ctc fb page ... "There’s something in the air….we’ll be announcing some exciting easyJet news on Saturday at the Flyer Show in Heathrow, watch this space"
So I guess it's more or less confirmed.

So BA made my mind up for me. Orange A320s are the way forward..
Filling out a pdf application form is a bit retro though. Next step will be to post it snail mail and include a stamped addressed envelope. Think I will wait to see what CTC have to offer.
For the Cessna point, when you pass your 14 ATPL subjects they give you a full credit for the PPL ground training syllabus. So in theory you could take a PPL skills test after your 90 hours of real aeroplanes before you switch to the sims.

FUNDING REQUIRED
We believe in ensuring you have a clear picture of all aspects of the programme and, therefore, we try to make sure that you are not surprised by any hidden costs once you are in training. In order for you to accurately plan your finances and budget through training, the funding required is outlined below.
Selection Fee
Security Bond
MPL Payments
Selection fee: £210
As we deal with large numbers of applicants, the administration cost of selection amounts to many thousands of pounds per selected candidate. We do not think it’s fair to ask only the successful ones to have to pay for all those that apply, so we ask everyone to contribute. We therefore charge you £210 inclusive of VAT to cover the cost of some industry-standard assessment tests. It is vital that we do this selection properly - so that you can be given the best advice about your likely chances of success in your future career and to ensure that we have selected the right person into training. On occasions, when linked to special promotional events, we do offer the opportunity for reduced or free selection. (Please note: for candidates who are not successful at selection, but are invited to re-apply at a future date, the re-application fee is £110.00 including VAT).
The total funding requirement for the CTC WINGS easyJet MPL cadet course is £109,000. This components of this requirement are shown below.
Security Bond: £69,000
As previously explained, APL pay for the majority of your training and associated costs through the CTC WINGS easyJet MPL cadet course. This sponsorship represents a significant investment, hence, exposure to APL. Therefore, we require that you deposit a ‘security bond’ of £69,000 to secure your place on the course. This security bond is deposited in 13 instalments over the period of training and is held by APL until your employment with easyJet.
Schedule of instalments:
Total Bond : £69,000
13 instalments
1st instalment: due when you return your signed contract
2nd instalment one month before the course starts
3rd instalment: due at the beginning of month 5,before you fly travel to NZ or USAto commence flight training
Remaining instalments: at monthly intervals
Bond Repayments
Upon successful engagement on a permanent easyJet UK-based employment contract, you will benefit from the significant and unique process of APL transferring your security bond to easyJet. easyJet will, in turn, repay the £69,000 bond to you in monthly instalments over a period of seven years in addition to the salary commensurate with experience.
MPL Training Fees
You will be required to pay two MPL Training Fees. The first Fee totals £20,800 and is payable before you travel to NZ or USA to commence flight training. The second Fee is due prior to the Advanced Phase of the course and totals £19,200.

Couldn't agree more Ben. Though i've just had a thought.
Maybe OAA have realised as there's an awful lot of revenue (for almost no loss) to be gained from applicants attending selection days, they want as many people to attend as possible. Rather than setting barriers such as essay questions which reduces the money they make from the whole process as less people attend due to being knocked out.
I still can't see how the fto's justify 230 odd pound a head for a presentation, laying a table with pens and paper for group work, a few computer tests, cold lunch (at ctc) and a half hour interview. Easy money isn't even the expression for it.
Don't even get me started on the £110 reapplication fee for the half hour interview i've to repeat, I mean I don't even get my cold lunch in that

The vast sums involved here, not just the actual cost of the course but the fees for interviews/assessments clearly indicate more than just supply outstripping demand. I think one of the reasons for the course fees being so high is the BoE Base Rate staying at 0.5%. If BoE was at 10%, very few would be able to afford the interest on the loan, never mind the repayments!
At pretty much every interview for a "professional" career I've attended (everything from IT to the Merchant Navy) the hiring company has offered to pay expenses I incur travelling to the interview. Even when the odds at initial application have been worse than 50-1, they've still offered to reimburse those who they choose to interview. I have never been asked to pay for an interview/assessment.
Whilst I admire those who want to follow their dreams, the fact that people are being charged to attend an interview/assessment for a training programme designed to lead to a job is, IMHO, just wrong. I genuinely wish the best of luck to all those who apply though.

£19,200 is certainly cheaper than many 320 TRs have been in the P2F circuit over the last 10 years.
Still paying over £100,000 is a staggering jump to the circa £65000 integrated fATPL in 2005/6.
I love to see a break down of the "many thousands" involved with processing applications through an electronic process.
Perhaps I should be working for CTC at Dibden?
Good luck to those applying. It is good to see the MPL is gathering momentum. This industry is incredibly reluctant to change.

OAA Selection
Could someone please outline how the selection process is going to work for this scheme?
I've heard it will all be done on one day, but the wording on OAA's website suggests it will be done over separate dates, with aptitude testing on one day and interview and team assessments on another. Can anyone confirm either?
Also, will successful candidates then go to Luton for further, easyJet specific assessment or will this be done on the same day as the Oxford based interviews?
Thanks.

Applying to OAA and CTC
Just wondered if anybody has any further information on whether it is acceptable to apply to both easyjet schemes this year? I.e. CTC and OAA?
It seems like both schemes are quite different this year? They both have different application windows and CTC appears to be taking more cadets? This suggests to me that it may be okay to apply to both but correct me if I am wrong?

I've been reliably informed that, unlike previous years, this is no longer permitted. The reason for change is that easyJet were seeing the same candidates at final stage for both OAA and CTC.

I'm trying to find out if it's just me or something is wrong with applications. I used the web-based application and never received the e-mail confirmation. Later i saw their advice to re-apply via the e-mail address and the PDF and i did it on Friday. Now it's Wednesday and i didn't receive yet any confirmation. Is there anyone in my same situation or should i call them to find out what's wrong with my applications?

I phoned them recently and was informed that they are processing the applications and confirmation emails will be sent once they process it. A lot of people must be applying.

I would agree that it doesn't seem easyjet get involved until the final stage otherwise I think the two schemes would have slightly more compatibility with each other... Because they are both so different, it appears that OAA and CTC have structured the training in their own was rather than easyjet giving them definite parameters. I think it's just a case of choosing the one that you feel is the best option?

Does anybody have any information on how the Parc contract stacks up against the CTC contract. CTC post up a detailed benefits package spec, most notably I offering easyjet contract after 12 months instead of 2 years! It would be interesting to see how the two match up!
Also, does anybody have any information on flight training location for the MPL at Oxford? I note that CTC provide their training in NZ like their standard wings course, however, Oxford just states either UK or Arizona for flight training?
