I presume you have got mixed up with the information that the first cadets were due to start training in February?
Either way, no, it was not meant to open on the 1st February, where did you get your information from?!

Given that courses from the current batch are scheduled up until February next year I would not expect fresh applications for next year to open until around August, in line with the timings used last year.

I just had a quick scan through the website and couldn't see anything with that date, but it's possible I missed it.
The time scale kingofkabul has given above is much closer to the dates I have heard thrown around for the next round.
Gives you a few months to prepare yourself and make yourself as selectable as you can.

I've heard a rumour (from a friend who has nothing to do with aviation) that BA are offering new places to brand new FPPers who have gone through selection already. Anyone heard the same, or even been one of these lucky people?
If true, this could be down to replacing people who have rejected their offer/failed the medical. Alternatively, might be new places entirely.
Like I say, it's a rumour from an unlinked source so looking for confirmation one way or other...

BA Requitment
Thanks for your reply mad_jock, Can you please tell me why you will not be applying? What are the Qualification one would need for this course? Also what is this point scale?

It is not 'requitment', it is 'recruitment'.
If you haven't already read this, then perhaps you aren't what BA are after?
It is an incremental pay scale covering 34 annual pay points or levels. Something like a 34 rung ladder - the higher you climb, the more money you get (and the better the view .....)?
Mad Jock may not be applying because of the spelling test he mentions?

BA Recruitment
Hi MrBernoulli, I have read that link, My question is will they accept people who have 2 A-Levels and 4 Intermidate subject? In Malta that is how the system works which is equivelent to 3 A-level. Do you have any idea how many people applied last time the applications came out and how many got accepted?

I suspect Jock is making a tounge-in-cheek remark to appease some newbies who clearly haven't read the rest of the thread. I was speaking to some union reps earlier this month and apparently they have shelved it until at least 2014.

It was, I can also see some of the current batch not getting online until then either.
I doud't it will even be 2014 before they do any sort of cadet recruiting.
To be honest they have no need to, there are more than enough rated guys out there. You have sub 30 year olds doing 900 hours a year in the UAE driving 100ton plus machines wanting to move back.
Unless the intergrated schools start struggling they won't have to.

20 cadets started a couple of weeks ago and had their welcome day at Cranebank with their families. The group picture was posted on our flight ops newsletter the other day.
From flight ops mgt, the cadet scheme is here to stay, and it will provide the majority of pilots to BA over the next five years or so (quoting our DFO). Of the 800 pilots to be recruited, 240 or so have already been offered contracts (the majority of whom are now on-line in BA), 400 are to come from the cadet stream leaving 160 or so to be recruited as DEPs. The BMI thing will increase the numbers required over the coming years, as LH aircraft require more pilots, plus I hear the age demographic of BMI pilots will mean more will retire in the coming years. Even so, cadets will feature in the coming years, just as they did 10+ years ago.
