Remember that being successful in job applications is not all about academic qualifications.

You have 6 A grade A levels and are doing a highly respectable degree at Oxbridge (I assume)...but you are not able to begin sentences with capital letters?

Spuk

C'mon Spuk; give the lad a break. Despite his achievements to date, commendable as they are, he's still only twenty years of age and it's trendy to write like that. innit?

Oh, and Xanders, some of us thickos (me) are idle b*ggers too. I spend most of my days flying an armchair

Thankfully for those of us less academically endowed, good qualifications and long piloting careers are not linked

I know several pilots who went through the military route and the modular route, and neither of those groups did well at school, in fact some of them were quite the opposite! That's not to say they aren't intelligent, far from it in fact, but qualifications only open the door for you. They don't keep you from being kicked back out again if the person opening the door decides to change his mind!

That said, getting these opportunities is half the battle...

I know of at least 1 person who has not heard anything yet, and 1 other that has. Not sure what is going on and whether they are sticking to their proposed dates rigidly. Hope that helps.

Phil - (French/US) dual citizen - if you can prove that you meet the minimum criteria that are clearly stated on the BA Careers website, then you have as much chance as anyone else. This answer applies to all the other people who ask the same question in different form. If you don't meet the minimum requirements, then you have no chance. The best way to find out what your chance is, is to apply.
However, if you haven't applied already, your chance is presently zero no matter what your nationality or educational status, since the application window closed a month ago. Future openings haven't yet been advertised.

Re OAA I'm aware of at least one who hasn't yet heard following the first part of stage 2, plus one from FTE in a similar position. Patience is a virtue.

Any word from OAA yet to anyone? At the intial brief the 10th was cited as a very possible date for hearing the outcome. As its now 1800 on the 13th - the 'official' date for hearing back - I wondered if anyone had had any feedback.

OAA are still sifting through the round 1 scores, please don't be alarmed if you have not yet heard from them, when I called they said it could be as late as mid/end of next week until all are contacted.

I had my assessment at CTC today but didn't get passed the first round. All I have ever wanted to do career-wise is be a pilot and it has now made me question it. Before the FPP came along I had already been looking at the various FTO's and options for training with a view to taking out a loan to fund it myself, so when the FPP came along it felt like it was perfect timing. But now that I haven't got through at a relatively early stage of the process I'm wondering if funding it myself is such a good idea. If I don't have what it takes now to be taken on by an airline, then will I ever? I didn't help that CTC wouldn't give any feedback whatsoever, so I have no idea where I went wrong or if/how I could improve. It's all be a bit disheartening and upsetting really and I have no idea where to go from here! Any advice?
