Some words of advice.. hope this helps!
..from someone who has been there and done it ... and is still involved at the sharp end!
By the end of the FTO interview and BA selection process, BA will have a very clear idea about your numeracy and literary skills, your comprehension skills, how careful you are and how good you are at following instructions.
Why have so many of you asked questions about issues clearly explained on the BA and FTO websites? Lazy? Inept? Ignorant?
What is about BA's clear statement, that they are looking for people with little or no flying experience, that you don't understand?
Why have so many of you not read the BA website properly and believe that your salary is reduced by £1000/month to repay your bond/loan when, in fact, they pay you your normal salary plus £1000/month tax-free for 7 years?
What is about minimum educational requirements you don't understand?
Finally, whilst spelling and grammar in most of your posts is excellent, many are shocking! This results from either ignorance or carelessness... neither of which is acceptable to BA! (Some of the assessment involves your handwriting and I cannot over-emphasise the negative reaction to spider's pee scribble and countless spelling and grammatical errors..)
However, as a taster.. avoid definately, wrong use of to/too, be careful with there/their, use apostrophes carefully, do NOT use lower-case i for 1st-person singular, and if you're not sure how to spell a certain word..don't use it! Do NOT under any circumstances use yoof-speak or text-speak, verbally or in the written word.
Of particular importance, when BA personnel depart the room leaving you with your fellow candidates alone to complete one of the written exercises.. RTFQ very carefully! This is vital!
Also, if you do not currently meet or exceed BA's minimum educational requirements you will almost certainly be wasting a stamp if you apply...
but those without an acceptable degree but otherwise satisfy BA's A-level requirements should apply and do their very best ... many of the successful candidates who emerge from this process will not have a degree!
Please accept this as constructive .. not critical. Good luck to all who apply, competition will be fierce BUT many, many candidates will not clear the first hurdle and therefore not proceed to the BA assessment in London.
As I said..Good Luck to all!
ps I'll wager that many of you will screw-up their chance of being selected even for the FTO interview... a trap awaits the careless applicant!

Hmmm...
Very good advice not to use a word if you can't spell it.
DEFINITELY very good advice.
Prophead: The problem is that most don't have your discipline when it comes to the application form. They've never learned correct grammar and think text speak is correct grammar. It's a bit late in the day when it comes to the important application form. If you aspire to be the commander of an aircraft eventually and perhaps more-management/training pilot-then you need these skills from a good grounding. I'm just pleased that I won't have to fly with these semi-illiterates

Has anyone else noticed a problem with entering employment history in reverse chronological order?
Perhaps it's because I am using a Mac but it keeps changing the order preventing me putting it in the correct order!

this is horrible. i meet every single selection criteria except for the a level grades.
will ba accept students with lower grades? ( any chance of it?)
the only chance i had to become a pilot, all gone.
good luck to anyone else that applies.

I'm out of the race too but I have other options- I am still a PPL holder etc, I will just have to work harder hence moving to Japan and saving my cash!!!
I took two goes at getting into the RAF for instance- if I'd have given up after the first try I'd not have had my RAF career at all!!
This is not the only way, it is one way.
High-higher
Be thankful for small (!) mercies.
At a recent medical I tried to explain that I wasn't overweight but about a foot too short-to meet current Body Mass Index Standards.
Some things never change...

Vulgar pay question
According to FPP FAQ the starting pay is around 30-32k (when allowances are included). Does anyone know what the pay after say 5 years is likely to be?
Based on previous cadet programs BA has run, would you expect the pay to coincide with direct entry pilots after 7 years when the bond has been repaid, or will FPP entry pilots always lag behind?

I wont receive my degree results until the start of November, and despite a letter from my university predicting at least a 2:1 degree, BA have told me today over the phone that this isn't sufficient. Certifications required at the minimum levels before applying. So close, yet so far.

I have a question - short and simple.
Did any of you folks who have started with your application receive any confirmation email upon creating your account?
I am asking because it happened to me once that I just did not get emails from a particular source. Weird, I know, but I double checked everything - spam etc, no explanation.
I just wouldn't want the same to happen here
Good luck to everyone.

Guys I am around 1,88m height and I weigh about 100kg, do you think I am eligibile for BA? (I do excercise and that, so anyway I don't think I could weigh less than 96kg for the interviews even if I go on a very strict diet...)
Thanks!
EDIT: I currently hold a Class 2....

Jambone, for you they might not be important. You might be worried about the qualifications you have or you don't. I personally meet all the criteria but I am worried about other things, why don't I have the right to ask anyway? That's why forums like this exist...
Thank you anyway
EDIT: In case anyone else was interested in weight issues, the maximum body mass index to obtain a Class 1 Medical Certificate is 35... I am around 28.

Don't follow JetEnginesAreUs!!
Boys (and girls?) I confidently predicted yesterday that some of you would screw-up even before FTO interview/assessment. JetEngines already has tripped up and I write this as a friendly tip not to do the same!
The BA website says quite clearly that you should NOT tell anyone that you have applied and should NOT share any details of the interview/assessment process...all this, understandably, in the interests of fairness.
When JetEngines posted last night, announcing his application, there were thousands of Ppruners logged onto the site and one or more may well have been BA staff.. they do read these threads you know! How do you think they will rate your ability to understand and carry out simple instructions? These things matter and any candidate who shows at the BA assessment that they cannot follow simple instructions will get no further!
MilesSRi.. you posted a pretty harsh criticism of BA's selection and recruitment policy on this thread yesterday.. a remarkably stupid and naive thing to do in a public domain by anyone, let alone a callow youth! BA can see your location, your age and probably your name too. How do your chances look now?
Please don't flame me..I am trying my best (as is Full Tanks) to help you people.. to guide you and alert you to some of traps which are easily fallen into (I actually replied to emails from 4 of you yesterday and sent PMs to 7 others.. I hope it helped.)
As I said yesterday..good luck to you all!

sorry if this is a stupid question as it has been vaguely covered. I have a frozen atpl from oxford, (one of ba's chosen FTO's) but with no airline experience or type rating. would it be a waste of my time to apply?
