Jetairfly recruiting ab initio's on the 737. Dutch, French and English required. Limited contract (even they don't know for how long at this stage) and SSTR, partly paid for by a reduced wage.
Does anyone know the inside story of what is on PPJN:
Current Situation:
All ab initio copilots made redundant, except KLM students building 737 hours on the line. Hiring new FO's via website, tempo contract only and willing to pay 20k+ Euros for TR 737 17/Nov/10
Outlook:
Recruitment in progress via website. Copilots are hired for summer season, then fired in favor of new ab initio copilots 17/Nov/10
Overall Hiring Situation (+ve/neutral/-ve):

You can forget about going to ryanair with 500 on type. Same with easy, wrong type, you need a 320 rating for that. With that, you need 150 hrs. So, if you must, go for the ryan typerating or ctc 320 typerating in cooperation with easy. At least you will have a job, and the investment will not be lost. Forget about jetair!

They Hire for summer, they made the season with you, in some flights they have the return on the investment, if they keep you on the company during winter then you cost too much so they prefer to kick you out, hire a new cadets, no salary during winter season (type rating phase), you are ready for next season, well its a good deal there financial dept found.
Someone have to talk with the Belgian Ministry of Employment.

I'm surprised at this thread, I worked at JAF for a year as a Cpt, we had about 35 Dutch FOs join in March, they all knew it was a 10 month contract. Most of them had paid 120,000 euro for the complete course at KLM Flt Academy, inc the 737 TR and all got paid while flying. Of course, they all wanted to be kept on, but they knew the terms when they took up the scheme. I'm not saying this is right or wrong, but from the industry point of view it is at least giving guys the chance to build 500 hrs or so and make themselves more attractive in the job market and get paid while doing it.
I would say that well over half of the guys I flew with wanted to go to KLM to work and all accepted it may be a 3 or 4 year wait. Surely this is KLMs problem not JAF?

Interesting reactions, and I tend to agree: to me it seems like a big rip-off too. With Thomas Cook at least there is some kind of gentleman's agreement to be taken on again in the next summer, but this doesn't seem the case here so it seems like a clear case of making money out of desperate wannabes, kicking them out and taking on the next batch the year after.

I've actually been invited to the assessment but I think I'll give it a pass as it is just too risky. Might as well go to RYR where at least you get a kind of return on investment in the form of more than just a few hundred hours on a 737.

Those KLM flgh academy guys had the full 73 rating on their license, they only needed to pay for the base training. They made a good deal, knowing that in a few years time KLM will hire them.
But if you dont have a 737 rating, and pay 20.000 thats another story, but at the end of the day its still better then eagle jet or whatever, you get payed to fly, and you pay for the rating. Not such a bad deal imo

Jeez, where in hell do these people find that kind of cash, even more so, where do they find the justification on spending it on that!?

I can never understand way people want to pay for TR and only 6 months of work.
I would have hoped the recession would have stopped the borrowing to fund such things and eventually people would say NO. If they did, perhaps airlines would then become short or TR pilots, offer better contracts or perm positions.

I speak French and English fluently but no German at all, is it mandatory ? Does anyone with no notion of German has a chance ?

The first steps of the selections are done: very few guys got called for a company Presentation Meeting (where they explain how they will rip your money off, and kick you out after 6 months), followed by theoretical test, and followed by an interview for the ones who succeeded.
The guys are now waiting a call if they are invited for a checkflight on a Cirrus aircraft, or a mail saying that they didn't pass the interview.

@johan.schneiderAs I have not recieved a call yet thats good news for me. Do you know if the mentioned €20.000 is correct for the TR?
