IR revalidations - where to go?

Would anyone know a good place to get an IR revalidation in the south? I've got about 6 weeks til mine expires and looking to book something quite fast. As it's my first revalidation i can do it in the sim which is quite a major factor in keeping costs down.

Have tried OAA, BCFT, Multiflight and Stapleford so far but any other siggestions most welcome.

My 1st reval in the sim last year cost less than £500, but that is not including the examiners fee.

I had 2 sessions to get back into the swing of it, then the reval test.

This year though I feel will be a tad more expensive, having to do it on the aircraft !!

I would take 2 weeks vacation and do it in Florida.
you renew your Multi IR every year, which is a waste of money.I can conclude you guys have to much money or it's your parents who pay.

I am ashamed to see in what society os spoiled kids we live these days...mom and dad 's boy who can not make their own money and think to renew their little license everyyear.

just do it when you think to have a job.mine is still good for 5 years.saved lot of money already.but people tell me i am very very smart!

A320rider....

and how are we supposed to get any kind of job if we don't get our IR revalidated each year? I very much doubt there would be an interview, let alone a job offer, without some proof that we're up to scratch, dedicated or consistent with any sort of training!

If you're so very very very smart the surely you'd realise that maintaining your training at the highest level is an indicator to how someone will perform in a flight deck, if you only revalidate your licence because you have a job offer then i very very very much hope i don't sit next to you up front!

This industry does not need people who take their role and responsibilities for granted, we are there to make sure the aircraft, and the passengers have a safe flight. If that means spending a lot of money each year to keep myself in check then it's a price i'm more than willing to pay. I hope you, one day, feel the same.

900 Euro is expensive.

Try Aviation South West in Exeter. They have probably one of the best equipped BE76 in the county, and they also have an FNPTII if that takes your fancy.

The airfield is well equipped with NDB and ILS along with helpful controllers, and there is plenty of uncontrolled airspace around for doing the general handling.

N864 airway is a few miles west so you'll be asked to track the Berryhead VOR towards Exmor.

The actual profile is not far off what you did on your initial test, the difference being if you fluff something you can have another go (in fact you can have a few goes). So a departure, join the airway tracking the BHD VOR, then break off for some general handling, partial panel etc. Track to the EX NDB, hold join, hold and then full procedure (non precision approach). Go around, radar vectored ILS (precision approach), go around into the visual circuit to land. On landing we then did an accelerated stop.

The above was a combined MEP and IR renewal profile.

why do you all give a s..t a bout this IR???

to all non very young smart boys here, nobody care about your IR. you have to renew it only if you go a on a t/rating course.
Employers know how it works(no need to be current and YES you will get an interview as your rating and License are valid)...so don't worry too much about it...just don't let it expire over 5 years.

after you got your type rating, no need to renew your IR, you just need to renew your t/rating.

so take it easy guys...keep your money !

you were a spermato when I got my CPL, so please, don't insult me!

Question

My licence UK/JAA fATPL is due for renewal next year, I have never renewed the IR, as I am flying jets on another licence. Do I need to renew the IR as it will be five years for both or just renew the licence as I am in current flying practice and IR on a different licence. Another problem I am facing is I have the hours to unfreeze my but not any JAA/CAA rated TRE anymore to give me a exam. (B727) really dont want to waste/spent money on FNPT II or a Multi Engine as I will not use it. thank you for any replys!
