Ryanair recruitment - Age bracket
It would be interesting to establish what the age bracket for Ryanair's current recruitment campaign for new FO's is.
From reading previous posts it can be seen that a variety of ages were assessed and subsequently employed, even those over 40, however is this still the situation?
Lets test the theory.
For all those who have been invited for assessment since the most recent campaign started, ie February 2009 and only those individuals (not those who were recruited in the later part of last year and are awaiting TR course dates), please post here with your age, lets see what the age bracket really is!!

age concerns
I am 37 and last April I went to the open Day and was assured that everyone attending would get a telephone interview, still waiting. So applied through web site paid 50.00 and got a reply straight away saying thanks but no thanks. I have 1000 hours total time so apparently I meet there requirements so happen there is and age limit but who knows.

as per the info at the side, I went in February, age 34 and completely boned it. I may as well have tried to fly the sim with my feet....very suprised I'd got so rusty so quickly. Still - every cloud etc - with current FX rates, I'm quite glad I'm not stuck with finding another £30k....
Unfortunately work and a relatively short notice interview combined to stop me getting any practice time in advance...

You have to question the motive of someone wanting such information when they dont state their age, if they are applying for a job with ryr or have experienced some knid of rejection after assesment?
T5 - are you some kind of
human rights lawyer trying to stir up business? Do you have an axe to grind? Do you work for channel 4????
The one thing ryanair will do is give most people a shot at the assesment regardless. As long as you perform to a HIGH standard in the sim and can pay for the rating they aint interested in much else.
Right now its supply and demand. They are the only show in town recruiting and they can pick and choose big time. That goes for Capts, FO's & Cadets.

Ryanair may be a lot of things but they're not ageist. I know plenty of people who joined the wrong side of 40. Unlike the majority of national airlines in Europe (perhaps with the exception of BA), they don't care where you come from, how old you are or what colour you are - they want decent pilots who will fit into the organisation. I know quite a few younger people who failed the assessment despite coming from an integrated background - RYR is not the pushover people think it is when it comes to recruitment.
If you pass the assessment, they'll offer you a place. Age doesn't come into it in my experience.

Unlike the majority of national airlines in Europe (perhaps with the exception of BA), they don't care where you come from, how old you are or what colour you are - they want decent pilots who will fit into the organisation.
As well as being non ageist, they also take people from all walks of life - teachers, plumbers, dentists, electricians - you name it! If they think you can do the job and fit in with them, then you're in. Be yourself during the interview and don't fly like the village idiot during your sim chx. Be wary though if you've got a bit of flying experience, they may expect a little more from you during the sim chx - a few extra emergencies thrown in etc., which is not unreasonable.

I believe they may well be!
Age 42, FI with 2300 hrs TT, over 700hrs twin and have all the other requirements. Not a bean, yet I know many friends of mine having just finished their flight courses with less than 250 hrs and in their 20's being assessed and offered TR courses.

I believe the problem is your hours not your age.
On my assesment there were all ages but all fATPL grads. You have both gained a lot of hours. Ryanair are looking for low hours or Captains, have a look on their website for details.
Its a shame I agree, it would be beneficial to have that kind of experience on the flight deck.

Ryanair offered me a position in Nov 2007, I was 45 at the time and only had 1800 hours with 500 on the Dash 8-300.
I found them to be one of the few airlines with no age agenda!
I did turn the offer down though, a Cadet position was offered with me holding a full ATPL

Had my assessment end of January , got the "email" unfortunately but I was 18 when I got the call asking to come for an interview, turned 19 start of Jan. seeing how 18 is the age limit for a CPL it seems age isn't a big concern for them.

Surely age is of no relevance / interest to MOL?
I expect the ability to pay your 'dowry' is far more pertinent.
Surely as RYR source their 'drivers' through BRK they can recruit as many lucky folks as the RYR 'tills' can take? Unless of course BRK pilots are guaranteed a minimum number of hours and pay?
(Should the above assumption be true my recruitment schedule would know no limits!)

Remember, 40 year olds are less malleable than 20 year olds and are not in their first ever job of any description. So they might have un-ryanair ideas about normal treatment and expectations.
Like so much ryanair, it's unwritten rules. By the same token micko hates more than a handful of female pilots, its an open secret in fr that the powers that be don't like them as they get pregnant too much and can't work.
Given mickos history, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that fairplay, honesty , integrity or the law would play no part in ryanairs policies.
Sure, there are exceptions to every rule, just enough to keep the lawyers happy.
