Best advice? Don't tell em! I screwed up and interview with First Choice I think for saying I had a PPL - wait at least til your training course but better wait til your on line and maybe mention it to a few pilots and see what reaction you'll get.

It's a good way to keep your interest in aviation alive and to keep motivated, plus you;ll have a great time

Opps...I've already sent a couple of applications off, stating that I've got my frozen ATPL, so i guess i'll have to play it by ear!

Thanks anyhow for the tip...

Question By the Cabin Crew door?

Hi,

Anyone out there started off as cabin crew and got a sim ride and ended up as flight crew? Anyone tried it and got nowhere? any recommended airlines for this? Seriously considering this as an option.

Cabin crew to pilot

Hey all,

Not sure if this is the right forum for this. Sorry if it isnt.

I was just wondering if there are many of you out there who started your flying career as cabin crew, trained to become a pilot and then landed a job in the RHS?? Also if you know anyone who has done this?

If so, please could you just give a brief insight of how you went about this.

I tried using the search engine but nothing came up.

Thank you

MC

Hi Mattycourt,

I am currently in the process of getting my ATPL, starting with a British airline as a First Officer early next year.

I flew as cabin crew for Monarch Airlines (hence the name) and am now doing my training on the CTC Wings Cadet scheme. I started the training last summer and am due to finish in March next year.

There is loads on PPRuNe on the CTC Wings Cadet Scheme (for those with very little or no flying experience) or have a look at www.ctcwings.co.uk

Good luck with it all!

Not me but I know 3 mates from various training routes who were cabin crew and now are doing RHS.

One was working for BA crew and did modular training in her spare time. Then got hired by BA for 737 and is now on the 744.

Another mate was working for Monarch, went to OAT, then got hired by Jet2 in 2004.

The last was working for Virgin, quit, went to Cabair, then put himself through the ATP scheme at CTC and now works for Easy.

Me too.. Was Cabin Crew for Britannia/Thomsonfly.. Did my PPL very cheaply on their company PA28's.. Excellent instruction/aircraft/price.. Then went on to do the commercial stuff and returned to the cabin while job hunting.. Get in the Flight Deck as much as you can for T/O and landing and get to talk to the guys up there( without peeing off the purser ).. Continued to hour build on the Warrior.. Got a job with VLM now with XL on the 767.. Good luck!!

I know of a bloke who is Captain with a large UK regional who started as Cabin Crew with a UK Charter. I think he did it the same way as most of the rest of us - saved a bit, borrowed a bit and then took the plunge.

Cabin Crew to Right Hand Seat at Ryanair?

Hello colleagues,

I am thinking about joining Ryanair as a Cabin Crew member in order to progress to the F/O's seat within the company.

Anyone in the know of this route? Any clues?

Thank you all for the attention.

Thumbs up

Call me a sceptic but I doubt it will make much difference a Ryanair. I am sure you will still need to self fund the type rating. If they did recruitment the old fashioned way then working as cabin crew may help in getting your face known but I can't see it helping in the current climate of paying for your own rating.

Judging by your name I am guessing you are in Madrid. If so then bear in mind that easyjet are probably looking for cabin crew for their new Madrid base and they are undoubtably a better employer than their Irish counterpart. The Airbus is a more useful rating to have as well for moving on if you wish to do so.
