Yes forzaLazio,

The fact that you need 100 hrs on the 737 is in the FR SOP, so first you will be consider as a cadet but you will also have probably to redo the 737 type rating with CAE or SAS...So why don't you go for some time in Turkey to fly with Corendon Airlines? They have 4 B737, in need of FO's, not yet in contract with eagle jet and even not yet on the ppjn website. So if you find the adress on the web, you would probably have the opportunities to do some hours before joining FR;-)

All pilots joining FR have their experience examined by the H.O.T and then are told what entry level they will enter the company. Having 4000 hours may not diferentiate you from 250 hours depending on experience for your initial course. Courses range from Cadet level - ie no heavy aircraft time, through JAR 25 operators, OCC Courses, direct entry command etc.

Having said that, entering the company with 4000 hours means you will have a command about 3 years before the guy with 250hrs as you will only need to build your 1500hrs on the 737.

Hi all

I have a 737300-900 rating and will have 100 hrs on type by christmas and have an assessment coming up with Ryanair. Iv looked through this thread and found a lot of info on the interview and sim check etc but i couldn't find anything specific on the selection process for already type rated guys.

Can anyone tell me if there is any difference in the selection procedure for a type rated guy compared to a cadet selection?

Would i still have to do a tech interview seeing as i have done the rating already?

Many thanks

Hi Aerofoil,
I did the assessment last week and there was a mix of low hours non TR like me upto a Capt on the 757 with 11 years experience etc....
My understanding is I think you will still have to go in the 737-200 sim, and the interview is mainly based around the aircraft you have flown, in your case I would expect questions on the 737-300/900. If you have any queries with it though email the guy at EMA, he is very helpful and am sure he would confirm this either way for you, they will not think badly of you for trying to confirm what is expected of you on the day.
Good luck with it

Dan.

Hi Aerofoil, Hi Dan & other FR FO candidates!

I have the sim eval comming up by the end of the month and just wondering if the SID is still out of Luton and if the tech interview is still about the previous aircraft you have flown etc - this would be a C150 or so...

How did things go for you guys? How far are you in the process and is it as bad as it looks on pprune?

Thanks.

Yes, its still the Luton Departure (Clacton6B) and NDB/DME approach to R/way 26. Some general handling, steep turns and an emergency of some sort. Between a 30 and 45 min flight in total.
The interview will be fitted in around your Sim.
Goodluck.

For the westerly dep at LTN after you have done the left turn after take off, keep the speed at at min clean or so, until you have started the next left turn toward the next VOR (I think its BPK). That way you have a chance of not overshooting the inbound radial. Also get the turn started in good time. Seems to work OK, it makes it nice and neat.

hey guys,

To all of those who have done the selecton or the upcoming ones... did u do it through CAE or SAS?
Just out of curiosity cause it's been a while I've been pressuring both of them but no assessment so far for me.
Thanks!

I applied for the first time in Dec 2003..... - and iv'e been updating my CV at a regular basis.... Recieved a call last week - So i guess that it's a waste of time just sitting by the phone waiting for that special call.

Fly as much as u can - and spread your CV. Someday someone will give u a call - maybe tomorrow, maybe in a year, or maybe never......

I filled in the application and waited 2.5 weeks for a response. I have the sim chaeck and interview at the end of the month. I also applied to GECAT and waited 1 week for a response from them and have the sim check on Friday. I don't know if I am a one off case, but I am surprised that I have received replys so quickerly!

I filled in in april06 and got a call last week - what's happening? Does this mean we are the last of the mohicans??

Seems the 1000's of people in the database are a myth?

How many hours do you have JimmieJames?

Departure and approach at Luton

This may be a little off topic but anyway:

It seems like the CLN 6B and the NDB approach rwy 26 at Luton are kinda well known dep/app at the sim assesment.
Is this because (if my statement is correct that is)it is approved or rather understood by Ryanair that the quality of the test is indeed a product of preparation so they don't change it for a while so the "rumour" spreads and they can see who read the "news" and appear to know CLN 6B for instance to the very detail. Just wondering?
I mean - anyone should be able to fly a raw data SID ot non precision approach after a "short" briefing right?

Sorry for spelling / grammar errors in advance. Danish

After reading this thread from beginning to end, I think that I have made a good decision to stay away from Ryan Air, and have turned down the interview for end October. For those of you who go for it, all the best . . . I hope you get treated with the due respect that professional pilots deserve, regardless of hours. I have been accepted onto GECAT SSTR for A320, and thus far have only heard good things about them. I would rather go for a professional organisation without the guarantee of a job, than be treated like a piece of worthless rubbish . . . the way Ryan Air treat their pilots. I know this is easy for me to say, as I have found another opening, but anyone has to admit, that when it come to Ryan Air . . .think cheap . . .think no pay for line training, think pay for own uniform, think work to the maximum number of hours and if they could get away with it they would make you work twice the amount, think pay for own water. . and basically THINK CHEAP. My training didn't come cheap so I do not work for CHEAP!!! If Ryan Air was my only option I would think get out out out ASAP and work for someone who treats professionals wit the respect that they deserve.
