Employment in Poland

Hello, the reason that I'm writing this thread is that currently I'm doing my JAA conversion, and planing to move back to Poland this year. My question is does any boby know the job prospects in Poland? are any airlines hiring? and how many hours you need to get a flying job, and flying job?. Thanks

Both expanding - both normally require type-ratings

I would definitly give Wizzair a go, New A320's (Not 319's), and they seem to be growing steadily. A great group of guys to work with and a very international team. Brits, Australians, French, Dutch, Polish and of course Hungarians (It is a Hungarian airline)

Bases at Katowice, and yes Gdansk and Warsaw too. They seem to be loosing a number of pilots to the likes of Easy and other European charter co's.

If you are Polish it should make things easier, as all non Hugarian and Non-Polish seem to be provided by Storm Aviation where they would expect you to do your type rating with them, then be handed over to Wizz.

Just remember though that if you are Employed as Polish in Poland by Wizzair your wages will be significantly less than the Ex-Pat guys, who are normally employed and paid through a contracting company.

EuroLOT have recruited within the last 12 months on the ATR42/72.
Wizz get the 319s from 2007.

Norwegian were also looking for WAW-based B733 pilots recently.

Then you have probaby got more hours than a few of the Wizz cadets then. Although I did hear that Wizz were upping the hours of the cadet requirement.

But you would have to check on that.

But I have also heard from friends in Wizz that a few Polish pilots are looking into getting the JAR now it is accesable for them and looking elsewhere in Europe for work.

Also if I remember there is a company based out of Warsaw using Turbo Lett's for charter work and they seem to have aircraft in both Warsaw and Gdansk when I was there.

There was another company who's name escapes me now also based out of Warsaw who had 737s I believe. Sounded like travel services or something like that.

The market for Polish speaking pilots is blooming here at the moment. 320h is more than enough for Eurolot (flying ATR 42/72) or Central Wings (flying B737). The second requires self founded TR (which is about $15k if done through Fisher Air Poland). Sky Europe and Wizz are hiring as well but it is much harder to get in. Good Luck.

Last I heard they hire exclusively through EuroLot. And I don't know what their requirements are.

The requirements to join Eurolot which I was told was that you need a JAA forzen ATPL lisence with around 300 hours, plus you need a multi-engine IFR and MCC course.

I see eurolot has its own TRTO... courses are given in polish. (!!)
they do not show any job offers, and their HR dept has no email, just phone/fax...
Lot airlines has some very good pilots, close to Top-guns, as I saw on their "people profile"...

I would love to fly for Eurolot!!!!

piltdown_man thats a stupid assumption to make on your part. Vietnam is a far more poorer country than Poland yet Vietnam Airlines has a cadet program in place, where they pay for the training and living expenses while the students undertake their training in Australia.

You might wanna first check if LOT has or hasn't a sponshorship program in place before you come here and post replies just based on your ignorance of an eastern european country. No offence.

Do you need a JAA licence to fly in Poland these days? Or do they accept anything else?

Regarding your question about having a jaa lisence in poland is that you can have a ICAO lisence and convert it to a polish lisence, but you can only fly General Aviation. But if you want to fly for the airlines you have to convert to a JAA I know, because I moved to Poland this year from canada and I'm converting my lisence, so hopefully next year I can find employment with eurolot.

Polish Pilot's market status ?

Just wondering about the current hiring status and mnimum requirements on the Polish market.
Learned trough this Forum that Eurolot was hiring with CPL(A) and only 300 h TT (plus ME and IR).

Is this still valid ?

I am a Polish national, but grew up and currently living in Argentina.
Holding ICAO CPL w/ 300 hs TT and ME & IR ratings, and 40 years old.

Any feedback or exra info / advice for chances, etc. is welcomed.

So guys, do you think Frozen ATPL, MCC, IFR + ME rating with 220 hours will be enough to get a job in Poland in any of these companies?

I hold a Polish Passport and speak Polish almost fluent but lives in Sweden.

Requirements for eurolot are 300 hours, Forzen ATPL, MCC, mulit-IR, training is done in polish, but books and exams are in english. Might have a chance with jetair, Skytaxi, or exin
