In my time with Avient, we made it very clear (as crew).
If we weren't paid, we didn't fly - endex. Looks like the hand-to-mouth existence still exists, despite the name/company change, which is sad. A lot of the guys I worked with were good people. |
I watched on of their jets (Z-BAM) visiting Manston on Feb 18th.
|
sad end !
More redundancies, moving staff and pay continues to be an issue.
Hope its just a rocky beginning rather than a slippery slope. |
row, row, row your boat
If your rocky beginning lasts one year, then for sure it's rocky!
Such a shame but I guess the crooks at the handle deliberately sabotaged the ship and let it sink. It's the most convenient way to have somebody else pay for one's debts, and start anew. |
Still going,going,going..
Well, they are still operating from Gatwick and rumour has it they did a runner from Amesbury(leaving debts like when they scuttled from Vatry) but then again they are a small operation and cash flow/paying people seems to be a recurring issue.

One year later, the second Belgian branch may be shut down in a matter of days, due to insolvency...
|
Shut down again?! I thought I read somewhere they were about to get a 3rd MD11 any day. Why did it turn so bad so quickly?
|
Why did it turn so bad so quickly? Avient of course, has absolutely NOTHING to do with AV Cargo. |
Last week both MD-11's sat together in Lagos. Spoke to a member of the crew and was told that both of them should have left the previous evening but couldnt as they had no line of credit with the fueling companies.....apparently...
Both refueled around lunchtime and departed and they have since been back into LOS. I was also told by the same person that they had not been paid in full what was due to them for three months... |
Not paid, don't fly. Simples
We went through this with that unrelated company Avient . . . |
Avient were angels compared to this bunch of "fly by nights" Still no money available for staff that have been made redundant and current staff not being paid either.

Looks like any spare money goes to sponsoring NG Racing - Strange that there is magic money for that.
|
Heard engineers' pay is 3 month-late. Purely outrageous.
Sick management... They should simply shut it down. Employees could too if they all don't show up. |
Accident waiting to happen !
Problem is that if the airline is so strapped for cash that it cannot pay the staff, what other corners are being cut to keep the aircraft in the air to fly the next charter for desperately needed cash flow.
If this was a European airline it would have been shut down months ago. The Zimbabwe CAA can have little or no safety oversight of a carrier that has operated to Harare once in the last year, can it? How SAFA can let these Zim registered aircraft continue to operate into European Airspace and be based in Belgium is laughable. |
Something good must be happening there. I know someone who just got hired there a couple of months ago.
|
Hiring staff
Well they may well hire staff but they don't look after them.Late or no payment seems to be the norm and some staff have just been given promise after promise.Still running hand to mouth.
|
Think I will stay at home rather than give them the satisfaction of getting something for nothing.
|
Judging by the reported behaviour of this company and the totally unrelated company Avient, that might be a great decision Fergi.
|
As far as hiring new staff goes, maybe they need to try to replace the ones that have walked due to the conditions, there are a lot of really good guys working there and don't deserve to be tarnished with the same brush as the senior management.
I just couldn't do it anymore and made the decision to leave even without a new job to go to. Luckily enough, got a new job so made my life a lot easier. |
The same guys screwed over the crews when they were Avient.... History will repeat itself again with this bunch of D-BAGS!
|
At least whores get paid!
|
AV Cargo Running Again
The 2 Directors of AV Cargo, having screwed Avient over, have now registered a new company "Global Associated Aviation". Looks like they are preparing to dump on everyone and run to a new company. BEWARE!!
|
same old,same old!
Yep that's true, incorporation date 5th June address Suite 5F Gatwick House which is the AV Office and Directors Clarke and Glover, all info available on net.
This is exactly what happen when Avient went down and AV rose from the ashes.Really sorry for those who work for AV if they are treated the same way as Avients were. Will watch and see! |
Is that 'Global Associated AViation'?
Err . . . associated with what? Umm, let me guess. A company with no connection at all to Avient, or AV Cargo . . . here we go again. Caveat Emptor. Funny how the same old names crop up, eh? |
Donkey Derby
Maybe the major investors in AV Cargo will want to back another lame horse!
|
AV Cargo Running Again
Just for clarification the only connection with Avient is Clarke and Glover. There are a lot of good guys and girls that will be shafted. I understand it's already happened to some of them.
|
There are a lot of good guys and girls that will be shafted. I understand it's already happened to some of them. I wonder if they've updated their version of Photoshop yet . . . :hmm: |
Why?
Why hasn't the Belgium authorities thrown these parasites off the airport yet?
|
Dash. One of my Belgian first officers once told me that they had cornered the market in Dash. He lived in Antwerpen.
|
How could they leave the loved ones
Avient Ltd owes at least £20.7m to more than 350 creditors, but with question marks over the company’s assets, an estimate by administrator Portland suggests that creditors may only receive between 3% and 5% of their claims....
A creditors’ committee was formed in June to agree to the new plan, although a lack of transparency into Avient’s finances, which have not been updated since May 2012, is hampering efforts to resolve outstanding issues. Challenges include the valuation of DC10 spare parts, which according to Avient have a book value of £2m, although this is disputed. The finances have been further complicated by an HMRC tax investigation into Avient’s affairs, which were spread across some six connected companies. The former directors, Andrew and Sam Smith, had also withdrawn some £594,000, which was unaccounted for in the books, and which, depending on an HMRC decision, may need to be recovered. In addition, the families of two crew members which died in a 2009 crash also claim not to have received the €1.5m settlement from an insurance policy which paid out to Avient. |

Complex issues
Well,Avient like any airlines was affected by the downturn in the economy, but they made the huge mistake of trying to get an AOC for Belgium. The newly appoint CEO talked the talk (originally a salesman)but had no chance and basically wanted anyone who disagreed out and put his own people in.Now we have a company (AV)having problems and another company registered (GAA).

OVER!
New post on The Loadstar
New ACG set for take-off, while AV Cargo chiefs launch a new operation by Alex Lennane Defunct air freight operator AirCargoGermany is getting a new lease of life next month, taking off with new livery and a new name, while the shareholders of controversial operator AV Cargo have launched a new company, Global Associated Aviation. AirCargoGlobal will make its first flight early next month, operating one 747-400SF, which had been leased to AirCargoGermany by Avion Aircraft Trading. The new ACG is expected to launch services to Asia, initially from Frankfurt-Hahn to Shanghai, and Hong Kong. According to a local source, the airline is hoping to receive a second 747-400F in September. Its livery will change this week. The new carrier has a Slovakian AOC, and services will stop in Bratislava or Dubai on its way east. Many of the team were involved with Air Cargo Germany, including CEO Andrey Goryashko, formerly VP strategic development, and the directors of flight operations, ground operations and network planning. Meanwhile, the directors and shareholders of MD-11F operator AV Cargo, Simon Clarke and Neil Glover, incorporated Global Associated Aviation, in June. Based at the same UK address, the move has fuelled speculation about AV Cargo’s future. AV Cargo was born out of the liquidation of Avient, a Zimbabwean-registered carrier which appointed an administrator in April last year, but went into liquidation in November. Mr Clarke and Mr Glover incorporated AV Cargo in January 2013, took over over the management of Avient from Andrew and Sam Smith two months later, and were apparently unprepared for the extent of the dire financial position the company was in – with debts of some £20m. Administrator Portland suggested that, with creditors of Avient unlikely to get more than 5% of their claims, by using the new sales arm AV Cargo they might receive up to 20%. AV Cargo itself had hoped to gain investment from sales agent ECS, possibly through acquisition, but Companies House records show that did not happen. According to administration documents, Avient gave a temporary interest-bearing facility of £300,000 to AV Cargo, available from debt collections, as well as staff under a managed services agreement, which allowed Avient to recharge the costs plus a monthly £5,000 management fee. AV's third MD-11F in Jakarta The liquidation of Avient is still under way. Last month Portland revealed that a new liquidation committee had been formed, consisting of Asecna, which was owed some £2m, HM Revenue and Customs, thought to be due £1.2m and World Fuel Services Group. AV Cargo, meanwhile, expected to receive a third MD-11F into its fleet in April. It arrived in Jakarta for a heavy ‘C’ check in March after delivery from lessor PAFCO in November, but according to aircraft data website Planespotters, it has been stored at Jakarta Airport since April 30. In October, AV Cargo signed an interline agreement with Saudia Cargo for its Lagos services, but the relationship has been on hold for some months, after the operation in Lagos became "irregular", according to one source. AV Cargo was unavailable for comment before The Loadstar published.
