Neil Milligan RIP

My old mate of the last 35 years set off on his final night flight last night, after a brave but unsuccessful battle with a hideous cancer.

Neil flew Carvairs and Heralds with BAF, the CL-44 with Transmeridian, the 737, 757, and 767 with Britannia, and was latterly a training captain on the 757 with DHL UK.

Larger than life at times, a huge character, a wonderful and supportive friend, a devoted father to his two daughters, husband to Bonny, sister to Gaby: he will be greatly missed.

BSD.

Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
Neil was one of the first pilots to be recruited into DHL Air.
He quickly rose from First Officer to Training Captain.
A great guy, who will be sorely missed.
Out there flying the skies he so loved, this flight will never end.
You will be remembered in our hearts.

I flew with Neil in DHL. He was a real Gent and great fun to be around.

We flew on the line together. He as Captain, I as FO. He then conducted my last line check a week or so before I left for an Airbus life. The debrief was practical. And short. Neil knew what to say as a Trainer, and just when to say it.

It goes without saying that he will be sadly missed by the many who knew him.

I will always remember his Banana Yellow BMW m3, which he drove with such gusto around the roads around EMA. Normally at speed.... great speed.

RIP Neil. See you around the bazaars.

I worked with Spike at DHL but only flew with him half a dozen times.
An amazingly sincere trainer, if it was c**p he would tell you it was c**p, but then tell you how to put it right. He did my last line check at DHL and gave me a 4 out of a possible 5. Over breakfast I asked him why I only had scored a 4 from virtually a perfect flight. He gave me the look that only Spike could do then said ' I only give Fives if you manage to deal with an engine failure.' Enough said.
I never met any of his family and if they read this I offer my condolences. Neil was a great man

Remember him well from my Duey, Huey & Luey days, an absolute esquire, may he RIP on his final journey! Always had a creative solution for any issue at hand!
