DHL 767's
Does anyone know if the 767's are going to DHL US or DHL UK?
Kind Regards... |
Apparantly the decision is going to be made in march:rolleyes:
In same announcement as Aerologic stuff, DHL senior management said 767 announcement would be "Second Quarter"....Make of that what you will. However conjecture over who will operate these varies wildly and changes from week to week...
Until they're sitting there on the ramp and I'm in it pushing buttons, I am not going to hold my breath. |
767's
I think they will go to EAT.
Or ACL.....
That would be good.Lots of happy people and job done with little or no B***!!!!!.
I don't think they're getting to EAT. We just received another "new" A300B4 for its test flight yesterday (oo-dih), and in april we receive another one. So I guess EAT will be the A300 operator, not 767 or 777.
FWIW, I'm very sure they are coming to Europe. Just don't know if it's EAT or DHL UK.
According the information they gave us earlier this year they will be operated by DHL US. They are supposed to operate between the European hubs and the main hub in the Usa. Don't think we will operate them at EAT. As mentioned before more A300 are coming.
It is all very confusing CD. The word we're hearing over here is that they're going to be operated by DHL Aviation. Guess as usual, we'll all just have to wait and see what happens.:)
Knowing DHL they'll probably start-up ANOTHER carrier.
That is correct:ugh:. Just lets wait and see...

It's difficult to make out the registration from the picture but alongside it is the american flag! |
As the Belgian pilot said, A300's are much more popular in Europe, so chances are much bigger the 767 will be operated in the US.
Very few carriers in Europe use B767 cargo, meanwhile here in South America the 767 is very common but hardly A300's in use. Distances are shorter in Europe and payload of the 767 is higher and more common to cross the Atlantic ocean. But slowly also in Brasil the interest of the A300 is starting ( B4) for inland transport to replace the B707 and DC 8's, as also our Civil Aviation is getting stricter every year. The 300-600 is too expensive for inland use and payload to low to cross the Atlantic. |
I believe that's an ABX Air B767-200 Sapco.
Thanks hvydriver, I thought the post might elicit a few knowledgeable replies. It looks shiny enough to be fresh off the production line - is it?
No, just a fresh coat of paint. Neither ABX nor Astar ever get new a/c. Notice that it does not have a main cargo door. Many of the ABX B767's are configured in that manner to use their C container system. Plus, they put the ship numbers over the windscreen, like you folks do in Europe.
hvydriver is correct, registration is N775AX, ABX 767-281PC (no cargo door). Originally an ANA airplane, I believe.
You can also make out the "Operated by ABXAir" logo box above the three red stripes foward of the main cabin entry door.
Well wonders happen. We just got the internal news that EAT is going to operate 1 B767-300 out of Bru as from next year on.
DHL Air UK will operate 2 out of Ema. Aircraft's will operate under DHL Air UK AOC. The other 3 B767's ar not allocated yet. Greetz |
I heard it was confirmed 3 B767s for DHL Aviation Europe under DHL air's AOC from BRU and EMA. It will be decided who will get the other 3 aircraft early next year.
Will EAT flightcrew be allowed to operate the G- registered aircraft? |
Congrats! You found a great pic of a 767-200 series (N775AX) - which is registered to ABX Air - a US company. :)
Somewhat behind the discussion Aviatrix. We've moved on to the much speculated upon announcement of who will drive the new-build 763s on order. See the posts above to see the answer - and they're not going to the 'N' register!
"Somewhat behind the discussion Aviatrix."
Yeah, I noticed that. :O Oh well, continue with the discussion..... |
"Well wonders happen. We just got the internal news that EAT is going to operate 1 B767-300 out of Bru as from next year on.
DHL Air UK will operate 2 out of Ema. Aircraft's will operate under DHL Air UK AOC. The other 3 B767's ar not allocated yet." Has this been announced publicly or as you say just "internally". If just internal, do you mean there has been a company released memo to the masses or are you referring to a "word of mouth" situation. The reason I ask is that we on the west side of the Pond have heard that three of the 767ER's are alloted to the DHL/DLH venture (word of mouth from Company Exec.) and that the destination for the other three was to be announced later this month. |
The allocation of the first 3 aircraft has been decided, and they will be operated under the DHL Air UK AOC, with EAT doing the maintenance. The fate of the last 3 to be decided late this year or beginning of 2009.
They're in no great hurry, as the last 3 will only come on-line in 2010. I would be very surprised if they went any other place than Air UK or EAT, but then again this is DHL and they'll be sending the tender out again to the usual suspects (DHL Air/EAT/Polar/ASTAR) and the lowest bidder will get them. As for the rumours of the 767s being operated by the DHL/LCAG JW (AeroLogic) that's always been a heering. They'll be operating the 777s, and the 777s only. |
To Boingdrvr: It was an internal memo/mail.
Thanks CaravanDriver
Do I get a gold star for getting it right on 2 Apr.? :):)
"Do I get a gold star for getting it right on 2 Apr.?"
No! You got to carouse and cavort and otherwise drink ungodly amounts of alcohol at Bike Week. No star for you!! ;) |
Awww... Be that way then.
Latest news is that they want one 767 to be crewed by EAT and the other two aircraft by DHL air.
So one crew base in BRU and one in EMA. Eventually they will replace the MD11s flying for DHL I guess. Still at the planning stage I believe at the moment so more info later... |
