Wages for Cargo Plane Drivers
Dear All
I am wondering what would a Captain and a First Officer Should or Could expect to fly a Cargo 727F or a 737F Aircraft out of London on a scheduled Service. I also would like to know how much a Pilot and co pilot can expect in terms of wages on a Saab/Antonov Cargo Aircraft like an AN26, I would very much appreciate your ideas and thoughts on wages. Cheers WA |

Many thanks for that interesting website, I really am looking for wages from a Airlines point of View. I would like to know if the following wages on the following aircraft are low or ok. 727F-737-F CPT: 30 000 per Annum FO: 24 000 per Annum With Free Shared Accomodation and insurance. Annual Leaf of 24 Days Staff Travel allowance Annual Bonus CPT: 3000 Hours Minim 1000 on Jet FO 1500 Hours Minim 500 on Jet Both needing 737 or 727 Type Rating. Position to Based in and around London Your thoughts are very much appreciated. Cheers WA |
B727 Freighter in Europe!!
I didnt think they where allowed anymore! As for saleries ,a but low i would say or do they put you up in a 5 star hotel all inclussive all the time?? Neil |
30,000 what per month? Are you talking pounds sterling or what?
If you are talking pounds then I cannot imagine that you will find a qualified captain who will do the job for much less than double that figure. |
And a B727 rating is quite rare these days too so my thoughts are that whoever operates them has to pay a little over the odds for experienced crews who'll most likely be of the mature variety, hence extra! Although someone will correct me if I'm wrong with this assumption.

Neil Hiya Neil According to my Knowledge I beleive a 727F can Fly in Europe as long as its stage 3, Has TCAS Mod 7 Transponder and RVSM and obviously meets EASA 145 Approval for Maintenance. The answer with regards to Wages its 30 000 British Sterling Per Year with a Bonus and I beleive Accomodation is in a Shared House in the UK and in a Hotel whilst away From Base. Id also be interested to know what Aircraft out there meet the same MTOW of the 727 and has the same Cargo Capacity and Similar Range am not sure if the DC8 or a DC9 is similar or is the most similar to the 727f. Wannabee:
If you are a wannabee, then why a 727? Even if they've been modified to Stage3 etc, the fuelburn at today's prices make them prohibitive to operate. What are you type-rated on? Crews rarely earn wages, they're usually salaried. |
In Europe the 727 might be a bit rare nowadays, but the 727 can be seen in large numbers at Federal Express in Memphis, TN, US.
I know a guy who was not only a simulator IP but was also an FAA-designated Check Airman. UPS might still have quite a number in Louisville, KY. |
Oh the 27 is still in huge numbers over here but most sleep during the day. Would see 27's lined up as far as the eye could see in Dayton Ohio and other busy hot spots for freight. We have a dozen or so with a few in passenger config for sport charters. Capt makes 100 a year FO 50, SO 35 AND cabin crew 40 :ugh:with no yearly bonus and we're near the bottom for night freight in Canada. Let's not get into what some of the passenger airlines are paying here,,, just sad.
Anyhoo nice meeting everyone !:E |
