PRESS RELEASE

CARGOLUX TO NEGOTIATE WITH BOEING FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF NEXT GENERATION AIRCRAFT

Luxembourg, 20th July 2005. - The Board of Directors of Cargolux has authorized Management to enter into negotiations with Boeing for the procurement of a minimum of 10 Boeing B747 Advanced Freighters (ADV F) for delivery beginning as of 2009.

The Board decision is the culmination of a thorough and lengthy selection process. For some time, Cargolux had encouraged aircraft and engine manufacturers to build a new generation aircraft offering better economics and environmental protection.

More recently, Cargolux had launched an in-depth analysis of all factors relevant to the decision, leading to the selection of a successor aircraft to the B747-400F currently operated by the company.
The B747-ADV freighter will combine state-of-the-art airframe and engine technology. Environmentally, this aircraft will meet all future noise limitations and assure lowest emissions and allow Cargolux to maintain its profitability in an environment marked by very high fuel prices.

Cargolux President and CEO Uli Ogiermann stated: “ Management’s recommendation to the Board is the result of a very thorough analysis during which we assessed which aircraft was best suited to our fleet renewal in the next decade. The fact that we enter into negotiations with the Boeing company is based purely on commercial considerations, supported by the environmental benefits the B747-ADV F offers.”

Lets hope they put nice seats in the upper deck this
time!!!
just depends who will get the benefit to enjoying those... :E remember, 3 years to go... :yuk:

Hunter58 29th July 2005 07:39

Hey they are still better than the usual wood-class provided in other examples of the type (actually older examples...)

cargoflyer 16th August 2005 13:51

@hunter58
can`t argue on that one, except that the core-business just managed to increase their chances of enjoying these seats by +/- 100 people <- who will soon miss out having the pleasure of enjoying these benefits  due to being outsmarted twice in the last +/- 18months :yuk:

CV leads the way again ??
Hopefully since the last time i was there in 2001 they have managed to spend some money upgrading that thing they call a maintenance hangar. I'm sure the Tech's would appreciate the hangar doors closed on a January morning instead of the back end of a 747 sticking out. I thought JAR 145 required maintenance to be carried out in a temperature which is comfortable to work in.

acmi48 18th August 2005 09:02

the hangar would have been up and running 3 years ago if not for the strange customs of our landlords , this small country is utopia for some and a bureaucratic nightmare for others.

as for the a/c x other customers still being courted prior to 'green light'-

klink 29th August 2005 10:02

didn't "they" just start constructing something like a hangar on the side of Sandweiler?

bigfatsweatysock 1st September 2005 08:17

Klink,

not yet, but they did just lose their HR manager....

CR2 1st September 2005 09:50

And we're losing RR engines at the rate of about 1 a day.... :ouch:

Junk.

Buster Hyman 1st September 2005 21:55

Have you checked the oil Ratty?

CR2 2nd September 2005 07:30

'Tis all RR's fault according to top bods.

acmi48 2nd September 2005 14:08

the 400 adv still needs some fellow launch customers but the far east is the best bet- the engines are GE.. hurricance force winds around as the everybody breaths a sigh of relief together

avail date still not b4 2008/2009 season - and a mtow weight pegged at 960000 lbs x why not the magic million???

747guy 25th September 2005 16:10

So do any of you guys work for CargoLux? If so I have a couple of questions for you guys.

Buster Hyman 26th September 2005 02:56

None of them do however, they are all paid by Cargolux!:E

cargoflyer 26th September 2005 07:32

@BH,

well maybe, but some are not even "owned by CV" anymore, we do however have to call them "preferred customers" :E

CR2 26th September 2005 10:03
