Cargo Ops Training

I need to arrange some formal training for Cargo Ops Staff.
Does anyone know of any training courses specifically aimed at cargo?
Preferable location would be UK or Europe but I'd be grateful for ideas from anywhere else.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I believe LH – Lufthansa have good training courses for Cargo Ops. But sorry I don’t have the contact details.

What areas of training are required?

IATA do all the courses, though they cost an arm & a leg.

Thanks guys - I'm looking for something tailored to the peculiarities of ad-hoc freight operations rather than scheduled ops, so would be looking at covering aspects of AWB preparation, operating regulations (traffic rights etc), loading characteristics, weight/balance, and ground handling.
I've seen courses which cover some of these subjects, but none that bring it all together.
We're a small operator, and do not have our own training facilities so I'm looking to outsource it.
At present all of our training is on-the-job, which works to a certain extent, but without the theory to back it up, the practical loses some of its value.

You are very unlikely to find such a diverse course, you will however find elements of your requirements in, as mentioned above IATA, Dangerous Goods training and NVQ's. There isn't really any easy way to achieve this other than have one of the training organisations tailor a course for you.

You might consider AVTECH 2000 which is an open learning course and will cover a good deal of the above, however, I'd recommend you vet the materials very carefully to ensure they meet your requirements. Also, as JAROPS1 now requires operational personnel to be trained to the ICAO 7192 D3 Dispatcher/Ops officer Syllabus you have a new requirement to meet since last Septemeber (See the Flight Dispatcher/Ops/Crewing forum for loads of discussion on the matter) Glasgow College of Nautical Studies do an open learning course to the ICAO Syllabus which might be trailored to meet a good portion of your requirements for Air Law, W&B.

Failing all of the above, you might be able to find other major carriers, such as LH or BA may be able to assist with the AWB/Grnd handling elements of your need.

Good Luck with it.
