EL AL to convert 744's too
 

The airlines four 747-400 passenger planes will be converted into Special Freighters for EL AL Cargo, they are the 6th carrier to go for this conversion, first from the middle east, and follwoing east Asia's Malaysia Airlines, JAL, Korean Air, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines.

This is part of ELALs strategy for long term to have the -400F and hence replace the older -200F types. Of which, they just bought another one recently from CAL (orig Korean Air & AFX).
