Freight Cabotage

Heard that the US Congress has recently signed a bill approving freight cabotage in the US. Anymore info? Any one?

It's a bit like a large brussel sprout.

Yes JW is right it is an item that you can transport in Belgium but only using a local carrier

Cabotage Internal air traffic: the right of a country to operate internal traffic, especially air traffic, using its own carriers and not those of other countries

A rider to a bill called the "Century of Aviation Authorization Act" has been introduced in the US Congress to allow some cabotage from Anchorage into the lower 48 states. It has passed the House, but not yet the Senate.

And then all the Third World Cargo Carriers can come and fly freight inside the USA at bargain rates! Running UPS, FDX and the Post Office right out of business.

Picked up some more news the other day. The bill has been passed by the congress and the senates signed by President Bush. The bill was well written and backed by ALPA. The cabotage scheme was tagged on the last minute without ALPA's knowledgeby the Alaskan lawmakers to generate the stagnant economy in their state.
:(

Not good...
