Was in PIK this morning saw the AN225 land unscheduled.

Departed EGPK for UKKM = Hostomel , in Ukraine

An 225 at PIK

Departed at 7.15am

How infuriating! I live in Prestwick and normally at 7.15 I'd be up getting ready to leave for work, and might have seen it. Trouble is, on Mondays I always have a lie in until 8.00....

off watch 21st September 2003 05:04

Does anyone know of other occasions when it has landed in the UK ?

kpiko3 23rd September 2003 01:44

It has landed at Farnbourgh but apart from that Prestwick is the only commercial airport in the U.K that the beast has been.
Here`s a link to some pictures of it at Prestwick.

youngsod 24th September 2003 16:14

She might be coming back? Oh please.....

She even made it to a piece and a photograph in the Local newspaper today, if she comes back I have to see it.

Kpiko3, thanks for the photographs. I take it you got them on the Monday morning? I particularly like the shot of the An -225 and the Ryanair 737. It looks like the Antonov is about to have it for breakfast.

Kpiko3 sorry to have to shoot down your claim, but the Mriya came to STN back in the early nineties - don't have the exact details at hand, but I do remember seeing her myself.

Visual Strip 24th September 2003 21:28

She's back in Prestwick tonight, from Rome. Scheduled around 19.30 (after dark...). I'm not quite sure when she's leaving. Hopefully at a respectable time tomorrow.:D

Thanks Visual Strip!

17.30 will be darkish depending on the cloud cover, but still well worth a trip to see her. Of course it helps living in Prestwick itself, so it's not exactly a long trip.

Think i'll make an early start for work tomorrow morning and hope to see her on the ground.

Landed approx 23.05 Local.

Flight planned departure at 0930 Local.

youngsod 25th September 2003 16:40

Well there she was this morning, sitting on the tarmac looking wonderful. There was quite a few people around even at 7.30 this morning, but how often does the world's largest aircraft arrive in your town!?

I'm glad I only hung around until 8.10 last night given that it arrived at 23.05.

Thanks to all for posting about her, and allowing me to see her!
