Shed type rating

Does any of you guys and gals have recent details of Shorts 330/360 type ratings with BAC Express and Emerald Airways - i.e. location, duration, price, and job prospects with them afterwards?

Cheers,

Fouga

Have a look at the thread in the current Sponsorship and Jobs forum on the Wannabees section of Pprune.

360 Rating

There hasn't been a course at Emerald (ex Streamline) for quite a while due to the merger. I believe the pool must be getting low now so one is overdue. It used to cost £7995 at Streamline. We will have to wait and see what Emerald will charge. I believe it's about 11-12K to do it at BAC.
Sorry for delay in posting I finallygot some leave.

Thanx for that, Fred Shed. I received the info from BAC Express the other day, and it's £8,500 plus VAT - so it's actually £10,000.

Still expecting the answer from Emerald's TRTO to compare and make up my mind.

From your experience, do Emerald still ask for 1,000 hours TT + 200 hours multi on top of the Type Rating?

Cheers

I'm not sure what the minimum requirements will be be for Emerald as I joined them by default, with the merger.
If the requirements stay the same as they did with Streamline then minimum hours and the rating will do. Having said that if there are more qualified people in the pool then they will probably get the first look in.
I joined a few years ago with only 40 hours multi and moved to the LHS after 6 months.
The type rating then could be completed for around £2500 but thanks to JAR the hours have increased and so too the cost, it's not the various companies trying to rip off people that has been mentioned before.
The experience you will get is well worth the cost of the type rating and the chance to build up hours quickly.
Before you commit to a company try to find some of it's crews and have a chat, you may not like the lifestyle that the job creates.

Best of Luck.

Fred, Hope you don't mind me asking- how many hours did you have after your six months, when you moved to the LHS?

Type Rating

I had 2000 hours when starting with the company and 2300 when moving across.

Hmmm,

BAC seems to be struggling to keep hold of their crews with the post office review coming nearer.

Might want to get a bit more info before going down that route.:hmm:

good luck!

Re BAC

There have been a few ATR jobs on the market recently e.g. Air Contractors and Air Wales hence all the ex Gill guys are moving on, as have most of ours.
