Finningley

Anyone heard anything as to when it's opening as the new cargo hub oop north??

Wondering if they are looking for people yet...

VEEPS :D

nothing in the local papers as yet but saw an advert for recruitment for a course being run at a local college (Worksop) for cabin crew training programmes!!!!!

Surely East Midlands will remain the dominant cargo destination for us Northerners, proximity to Finningley is not that far as the crow flies

But surely the glorious sound of 4 tattered Pratt and Whitneys clattering and banging amongst the dark satanic mills of Doncaster will reduce the environmental impact for the rest of the country?:p

Probably just after the similarly (and long promised) optimistic proposal to turn Teesside into a major cargo hub. Don't hold your breath - blue isn't an attractive colour;)

AHEM! Excuse me......Teesside not a major cargo hub?? We put a 146 in there most nights - how much gets exported from MME anyway?

Tee Hee!!! I probably see you as I sit staring wistfully out of the window, watching the approaches for 23 over the 'Boro with my tear-stained (or was that beer-stained?) licence in my greasy paw, wondering when that elusive RHS job will finally come along.

No, when I said major, I was on about the long-standing proposal for a dedicated cargo hub on the south side of the airfield. I think the numbers were for something in the order of 5m tonnes a year (is that a lot for a regional? - I really don't know), and having 747 freighters using the facilities too.

I'm sure you fly in a tasty amount of cargo (about 15t?), but it will take more than a couple of flights a night to get the kind of tonnage figures proposed.

AHEM Nopax!!!!

So does your 146 make MME a major hub then, do you really know just how much freight it carries in and out and the reasons why.......I wonder.

Is it flying in cos theres a maint base there or cos theres a freight hub there, it depends what you think comes first , chickens or eggs. I think they're both dependant on each other and by the way Major Cargo Hub at MME forgive me if I say I'll believe it when I see it.

Forever optimistic but getting older by the day..........

I was being ironic, Gents, hence the rolleyes  no-ones going to make a killing on what one little 146 shifts of a night - and I might add that at the launch of the QT we had stated intentions to take "up to 72 aircraft" HoHo!!

Of course as an engineer I would put Maintenance at the top, with business #2, but you can't have one without the other, of course!
