TNT B744F to end
BREAKING NEWS FROM LGG THIS MORNING....
TNT Airways B744F operation to cease from 03 April 2003. Crews to made redundant or transfer to A300F operations. It seems as the deal is no more and the aircraft will be taken back by Atlas Air for another project. That was short lived! Always seemed to be parked up in Liege What were you thinking of Mr T ??? Also co-incidental is the news that some commercial VPs also fired from Atlas Air today as well. |
You better check your sources again BRISTOLRE.
As usual most of your 'info' is wrong. The only thing you got right was the date.  |
Thanks, Clarence. By the tone of your comments, perhaps BRISTOLRE's post should have been headed "breaking wind" rather than "breaking news"?
But some further clarification would be appreciated. Are there any changes being made to the TNT operation at all? Does Apr 3rd have any signficance? By coincidence I was about to contact Liege when I saw this thread. |
WRONG INFO
Clarence Oveur
I am a little disgusted to hear your comments. This info is from the LGG crew room last night, respectful sir. What other info is wrong that I happen to have posted. Let me know what was supposed to be "incorrect". Who are you anyway? The MD of TNT airways are you? Breaking news, breaking wind whatever - this is news as it happens. Please factually correct me when I get things wrong dont just throw it back at me, thanks. |
Its now public
Chaps, its now Public, see Atlas Air's cooporate website, latest press release www.atlasair.com you will see for yourself that rumours often become true. About LGG, its not been confirmed yet, but at this stage, it is very liklely. Sorry times for chaps working there.
Want a cheap 747, get in the queue. |
Azore
Thanks Azore
I hate to be struck down in flames like this in the other messages I also like to know when I do get it wrong! |
BRISTOLRE:
Methinks you do protest too much! Clarence Oveur has every right to suspect everything you say for you have a poor track record with TNT information. For example, you told us all that the 744 was 491MC and it was in fact 494MC. You later published a load of bilge about the 733 project. Now it appears that your source of information is the crewroom in LGG. Which section are you lurking in; the odds and sods section (those who don't work for TNT), the smoking section or the inner sanctum? On second thoughts, it probably doesn't matter for I have heard three different versions of the same rumour going on at the same time! If we were to believe this TNT crew room gossip then, for example, Cougar would by now have a ramp filled with 737s, 747s, Tu 204s, DC-10s and an MD-11! It is common knowledge that the TNT/Atlas 50/50 project for the 744 is under constant review and it is always possible that you may well be right this time. However, your statement that the crews would be made redundant or trained on the A300 fleet just shows how little you know about the affair. More than 20 of the pilots are employed by Atlas and I am sure that most of them pull a high enough number to avoid furlough if the aircraft goes back to Atlas. Are you telling me that the 146 guys on the 744 are now going to be retrained on the A300? I very much doubt that. The only guys I can imagine that might possibly be looking for new jobs are a few new ex-SABENA pilots who will at least now have the advantage of some 744 time. |
As I said BRISTOLRE, the only thing you got right was the date.
I suspect that you are not employed by TNTA, but if you are you are poorly informed about the situation. As JW411 pointed out you have been so previously. Crews will not be transferred to the A300, and if you really had any insight you would know this. 2-3 of those on the 747 came from the Airbus, they will likely go back. Those who came from the 146 will likely go back on the 146. That leaves those hired directly for the 747. TNT will probably try to transfer as many as they can to the 737. The rest will sadly be made redundant. I use the words 'likely' and 'probably' because not everyone would want to go back to their previous type, but rather use their 744 rating somewhere else if the opportunity arises. Others might want to give the 737 a go. And no, I am not the MD of TNT. And I do not get my infomation from crewroom gossip. |
TNT
The story about TNT packing its bags in Southern Africa has been around for over a week. They managed to turn the whole project into a commercial disaster with amazing speed. Atlas couldn't make it work, Hydro packed its kit for good and TNT was even worse. Perhaps if they tried to act properly with the African AOC holders they wouldn't have had such a problem. they deserved everything that happened to them. Pity about the pilots and crew though.

TNT MESSAGES
OK Chaps point taken but don't shoot the messenger...
The TNT B733F program is true, you suggest that it is fiction. They WILL be taking some B733F from GECAS later this year. I NEVER suggested Cougar would ever take a footing in the B733F. As to their ideas for MD11s and B747s will its true, they do have these wild ideas from time to time but never come to reality as you can see. Good to see that not everything was wrong that I said about the Atlas & B744F Africa issue! I did overhear that it was 3rd April being the finalisation. |
BRISTOLRE:
You have an amazingly short memory! Under the thread "Jobs @ TNT" this is what you posted: "TNT haven't sourced any aircraft yet. B737 will be long term plan to add capacity to the network and maybe? replace older 146-200s. They will probably source them via a 3rd party supplier e.g. Amerar Air or Cougar if they get hold of any". It was Clarence Oveur and myself who pointed out that the aircraft had already been sourced from GECAS and that they were to be operated by TNTA. In other words, your version was and still is a load of old bo**ocks! |
From what I hear, the TNT contract is ending soon and the decision was was taken not to extend it.
|
Rumpours coming out of Stansted House this morning suggest that the aircraft will be going to GSS. BAWC require a third aircraft to serve new destinations, possibly out of LHR if the slots can be arranged. (G-GSSC?)

BRISTOLRE:
Guess what - OO-TJA is still floating around the skies. What has happened to your latest theory? |
JW411
For info OO-TJA went back to Atlas on Apr 3rd, it is now doing Ams- Tel -Aviv until it goes to GSS..... Cheers |
are there any plans to increase operations out of EMA ??
am I right in saying at the moment its a scarebus x2 a night would be nice to see TNT having more a presence on the tarmac next to the giants UPS happy cargoing everyone |
Bristolre, don't worry, you can always tell when you've hit close to the mark by the hysterical reaction from the usual suspects......normally management stooges/rear gunners. Keep it up! ;) :ok:
|
74world:
Many thanks for the information. I was told that it was still registered OO-TJA and being flown by TNT crews. It would still have to be on TNT's AOC for that to happen I suppose? |
JW411
I don't beleive that the TNT crews are flying OO-TJA, the AC is now back with Atlas.......during March I flew with the TNT pilots, all of them were very upset about losing their jobs, some of them already qualify on the 73 were transfer on the new aircraft type at TNT. Atlas will give TJA to GSS because this A/C has already been through the EU civil aviation approval, so it would be a lot easier for the tranfer to a G registration. Cheers..... |
raitfaiter
Thanks again for the encouragement and support.
Rait faiter sounds like your from my part of the world? (I'm a right fighter in southern lingo??) I only report what I hear you know maybe it did hit the nerves, it made one or two hysterical as you said! |
