Yes they do, I guess you need to be current on type, maybe not a requirement, but they probably have enough applications from type rated pilots.
But its always s worth a try.

Seems like a couple of F/O's are transferred from Europe to BAH. Rumours of one B767 going to MEL for a couple of months.

The rumours are true. 12 pilots started this year that Im aware off, some contractors who were type rated but another 4 non type rated FO starting in April from their hold pool which has effectively dried up. Of the 12 originals there were 8 type rated contractors who may either go permanent or will be replace and probably quite soon, as in this year.

Their first 767-300 showed up yesterday and are getting another 5 300s this year plus 3 x 200s for a total of 8 in the fleet, an increase of 2 aircraft. 3 older 767-200s have been retired this year.

There's a new world out there now. Only worry about such small things when / if you get an interview

Standard monthly roster at DHL Bahrain. Used to average between 30 to 40 hours a month, about 35 a year ago but now the guys are doing in excess of 50 and about 55 hours a month is standard. In saying that a lot of expansion coming this year with flights as far as HKG, Shanghai, Sydney and Singapore. At present you come home every night but that is about to change with this expansion. Rumour has it new aircraft coming as well, pilots told me they have heard 737 and 777. Currently they only have 767 in Bahrain and will keep them if and when new aircraft arrive.

FO - Current salary 10K USD a month based on 30 hours which includes your housing allowance and per diem. With the extra flying maybe now 11.5K a month

CA - Current salary 13.5K USD a month based on 30 hours which includes your housing allowance and per diem. With extra flying now approximately 15k - 15.5k USD a month

All salaries tax free.

Many thanks for that. How would you say fatigue levels are among the crews?

Oceansailer 6th Apr 2021 22:41

Whatever the t&c s are I can gaurantee they are 100% better than many of us are getting in whatever our individual survival mode is at present. This has always been an excellent job to go for if you have any desire to fly in the ME.
My question for those in the know, I assume its on a Bahrain ATPL? Are the medical standards the same as UK / EASA? It would be nice to at least dream of being one of the lucky few hired, but with a fairly thick medical file now despite an unrestricted Class 1 I wonder if I should even dream :)

Those invited to screening were through internal recommendations. Day 1 tech exam. If successful you proceed to sim on an Airbus.

You are talking rubbish.

Interviews are in Bahrain, the sim is right next door in the Gulf Air training center....

Congrats on getting as far as the interviews (and hopefully beyond) - are you shooting for the left or right seat? My applications in the pile to but nothing heard yet.

Hey there,

I'm actually very glad for all of you who will get a chance to work in DHL Bahrain. These are no easy times and regardless of who gets the role, you've earned it. Whichever particulars made the airline choose you instead of the other Pilots, the job is/will be yours, so savour it and do what you do best.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck! :ok:
