Unbelievable working conditions.....
Sitting around Africa for days without getting any duty hour credit towards your salary, constant changes, reserve days in LUX and in MXP meaning you have to arrange and pay for your own HOTAC. Different contract for different nationalities....... All of that for very little money and a lot of frustration.....just to fly a "big" aeroplane......:ugh::= People willing to pay for the type rating. :mad: Where is this profession going :yuk::yuk::yuk: |
You need a good union to help you out....if you can't find one in Italy here is a number you can call...+352435353....it's called the ALPL....try it, it could prove benificial for both of you...😉😉

Maybe that direct command or jumping the que was blissfully funny when you did it - I sure it was. I hear that you have be Italian to go to the States or get the wages you need to pay off the overdraft you created to get the type rating; or even pay for the stay in the 5 star Ibis in Lux. I heard recently that a certain captain who struggled with mainline guys to qualify is now a TRI there now. WOW!!! please ask to have the boxes painted off the tail. If loads of cadets are willing to pay 30000€ to fly a Ryanair B737-800 or Wizzair A320 with sharklet for a rubbish salary and horrible T&Cs, there will be even more assholes willing to pay 30000 euros to fly a B747-400 or an A380. At least they feel important on their facebook page when the show their selfies taken with their smartphone. Anyway, the B747-400 is no more difficult to operate than a B737NG, a frozen ATPL cadet can do that right after celebrating their 19th birthday. Airline managers know how ridiculous is this new generation pilots. Yes they are modern slaves. |

Sorry to get in the way of a perfectly good Italian bashing, but what has being Italian got to do with how bad this airline is? Why the insults and the prejudice? Is this the only dodgy or disreputable outfit in Europe, or do other countries have their own examples?
Where did the rot of low-cost crap carriers and pay-to-fly start anyway? (hint, it was northern Europe) When I worked for Alitalia, some of our european "colleagues" (not all!) would often attack our attempts at defending our terms and conditions by saying we were lazy, spoiled primadonnas with too many privileges, now it appears that a single-aircraft airline in Milan is proof we're a "banana-land" or "part of Africa"? And who thought up and created this dog-and-pony show anyway, wasn't it Cargolux management? Are they all Italians at headquarters in Luxembourg? There is a LOT wrong with my country, but those in glass houses should not cast stones. |

The "Trust Inn" (Goggle it) local to LUX airport was negotiable on room rates for long-term and/or regular offenders :) ... I lived in the place for a few months, very comfortable accommodation.

Average Senior First Officer in Cargolux Italia is 5000€ net, after tax.
The junior ones non-type rated start from 1800€ net first year. |
And for flying a 747 you do net need an aviation hero. Heavy experience is more than enought
