Research for a TV series about Freight Dogs
Hello
I am currently researching a TV series about freight pilots and I would love to talk to anyone who work in this area. I am particularly interested in talking to any pilots who fly through / are based in Anchorage, Alaska. You can contact me directly on the following email: [email protected] Thanks. |
Rachael,
For fear of advertising another forum on here try this. Cargo - Airline Pilot Central Forums Lots of FedEx, UPS, Atlas freight dogs who operate through ANC on there |
You are missing out on the big picture.. Forget sched service, the real freight dogs are the load masters and flight mechanics who operate as lone renegades. Load masters crafting odd freight to just make the load under specs, animals etc... The Flight mech, sticking with an aircraft, sleeping in a bed roll, watching sometimes 2 to ? flight crews hand off... Hell I got more sleep in my freighter than I did at home for several years. The only thing abnormal about a freight pilot's job is the night flying, you may as well do a story about shift work disorder... Dig deeper into ACMI operators like ATLAS, Centurion, Southern Air, etcetera... My favorite memory is waking up in my sleeping bag, throwing breakfast into the oven and eating it in my boxer shorts and t-shirt in a seat behind the captain at top of descent watching the sun rise from 36000 feet heading for Buenos Aires, nothing like it!

Rachs, you must bare in mind that any British pilots you film would have to be members of Equity (actors union) and all contacts via their agents. It is a well know fact that pilots take on filming/music work when not flying, for instance John Travolta and a member of a rock band.
I wish you well, but they don't come cheap. Daz Grounded.... " My favorite memory is waking up in my sleeping bag, throwing breakfast into the oven and eating it in my boxer shorts and t-shirt in a seat behind the captain at top of descent watching the sun rise from 36000 feet heading for Buenos Aires, nothing like it!" I take it after the Harriers waved goodbye |
Would any freight operation in Europe want to be filmed ?
