No night freight at FRA- Who will benefit?

With no air freight out of FRA, will that result in a shift in the market towards other hubs ( AMS or LUX comes to mind) ?

Lux has a night movement restriction, in theory 23:00 - 06:00 .

Not much help from LUX - there's been a night jet ban there for at least 11 years to my knowledge. No departures 00 - 06 local unless exceptional circumstances (after a SNOCLO springs to mind) and then with a huge fee to boot. Arrivals are allowed on an unscheduled basis but with a similar fee. The good burgers don't like the noise despite the airport being one of the major employers in the Duchy.

LGG (Liège) is a good option. Open 24/7, full cargo, no slots, very good road system, very close to Germany, lots of space for expansion, and already 7th biggest european cargo airport.

But it seems the first reaction is to go for Cologne/Bonn airport.
"According to the new schedule, the pilots would fly in the evening with the loaded aircraft from Frankfurt to Cologne/Bonn from where the aircraft would fly, three or four hours later, to China, provided the Russian air corridor was free and the landing timings in the Far East could be maintained."

Why go west first? Leipzig is in the right direction!

How about Frankfurt Hahn (HHN)?

Flying_Frisbee 16th Dec 2011 07:42

Access by road to Hahn from the FRA direction is fine, and from Trier/Lux direction is improving. There was talk recently of building a rail link too.
When I was last at CGN, the airport workforce were gearing up to fight a possible night ban there. Don't know if it came to anything.
Hahn's got to be near the top of any list of alternatives to FRA.
