JAL getting rid of their Freighter fleet

Sad news yet again for the cargo industry. JAL is shutting
down their freighter fleet by the end of October.
7 more B744Fs and 3 B767Fs on the market.

It's funny how some carriers are booming in Asia and others
simply wash their hands of the Maindeck market, Delta & JAL come to immediate mind.

I foresee Connie getting a bunch of 744s...

CR2 27th Mar 2010 00:34

The way I read it, JAL tried to do a deal with NCA. After much yadda yadda NCA said "No thanks:

:hmm:

Where are they going?

OK, sad day for JAL (freighter) pilots. :( Now, where are the toys going?. Obviously, 744's in good shape ( I imagine JAL runs a tight ship ), are going to go somewhere. So, other than guessing ( I know, that's impossible in this forum :ugh: ), anybody have any leads?. :)

I would officially like to start the rumor that ABX Air, Inc. will take over operation of the 767's.

I am not trying to step on any toes, it's just mostly wishful thinking on my part. We do however have JCAB operating authority already.

My sympathies to those who are losing their positions because of this turn of events.

Done. 1 is already in service.

I believe Kalitta has 2 converted freighters already flying.

Intruder 30th Mar 2010 22:08

Last I heard, JAL was asking 'too much money for the market' for their 744s. Maybe the price will come down, but I doubt Connie will buy any of them at high-market prices...

Im quite sure that the 744F's parked in the desert are not going anywhere soon for one good reason only. Not because nobody wants them but that the airlines who operate them will not release them to any competitor and consequently will grit their teeth and leave them there awaiting better times.

3 -400's, and more on the way. One is a recent JAL purchase, more coming.

Connie already has.

"Connie already has."
Connie already has what . . . simply bought some JAL744's, or bought JAL744's at high market prices?

bpp 2nd Apr 2010 00:17

I thought Connies 744's were ex-ANA aircraft. Aren't JAL 744 Pratt powered?
