Dose any one have any news on AIA?

Jelly Doughnut 7th Jul 2009 16:25

I saw 2 of their DC8's parked outside a hangar in Cape Town.. last week.

Africa Dog 7th Jul 2009 23:34

So who has brought the DC8-62 , What routes are they going to operate , are they looking for crew , a website address or company name would be helpfull

AAL 8th Jul 2009 05:25

Last heard that dubious outfit called Botswana International Air Cargo (BIAC) bought AIA and the aircraft.

Seems everbody is buying them till they realise the price of a C-Check on these old (and well used) birds.

helldog 8th Jul 2009 10:10

I could do with an old well used bird right now:}

I've not dived into the old freighters' thread for eons.
And I note, with some interest, that the DC 8 is still
being discussed.
I'm ex IAS, and would love to know if anyone out there
has the faintest idea what became of Alan Stocks?
One of the best bosses I ever had.

Lambrettaman 22nd Jul 2009 11:01

Alan Stocks and Bernard Keay finally threw the towel in at the end of last year after they managed to offload the remaining two DC8's. Alan is living down in Cornwall and Bernard in Brighton. End of an era for those guys stretching back 40+ years, IAS, BCA, Intavia etc etc:D

merlinxx 22nd Jul 2009 11:08

As & BK

If they hadn't got involved with shagged out T'Mac (Keegan) IAS maybe here today:confused:

CargoMatatu 22nd Jul 2009 11:53

Roger that, merlinxx.

Storminnorm 22nd Jul 2009 13:40

Bloody good firm, IAS.( Or should it be BCA now?)
I don't suppose anyone has a contact No for Alan Stocks?
My daughter lives in Cornwall, and I'll be down there myself
in a couple of weeks.
What happened to Dave Lilley? (not that I really care.)

Storminnorm 22nd Jul 2009 14:59

No one can be bothered with DC 8 training any more.
At least, I don't think so.
But for a small FEE I might be tempted to have a go.
Still got my course notes somewhere I think.

Just typed in DC 8 Training course on Yahoo, and there are
quite a few advertised on there. Currently available?
I don't know.

yambat 24th Jul 2009 04:21

DC8 training etc

DC8 70 series sim at Aeroservices in MIA, should have FAA certification by end July, only 60 series left now (I believe) is at Ras al Khaimah, Heavy Lift facility, ex MK, unsure of current status/condition of that sim.Stars Away in CPT bought ZV and SI, C check in progress on SI, AIA was great, 3 good years there, sad it ended as it did.
