707 jobs?
 
Hello,

Do you think there are any 707 first officer jobs still available anywhere? I'd be very willing to relocate and learn... obviously I'm young and have no type rating or prior experience on the airplane.

I can't think of many 707 jobs out there. Off the top of my head, John Travolta has a 707, i'm sure he needs a second pilot and an engineer, there is Omega Refueling Omega Air Refueling , but they are looking for people with 1500 TT, 500 on type (looking for ex 717/KC135 guys really). Then there's the USAF, if you're a US Citizen and under 29 with a bachelor's degree, you could check out the various ANG units that fly the KC-135 (although technically not a 707, the FAA will give you a 707 type rating on your cert). Active duty USAF, you have the opportunity to fly one of many C-135 airframes, or one of the few C-137s, E-8 (JSTARS), E-3 (AWACS), or in the Navy E-3 Mercury (TACAMO).

Is this a serious question? I guess that either there is more info that you didn't type about your experiance or connection to the 707 et al or you are not that connected to what i call reality.

Because my career is stuck just like everyone else's and I can see the dream of flying one of those classic airplanes vanishing.

I was wondering if someone knew some concrete information and figured that maybe it might not appeal to alot of people while it does appeal to me very much.

The 707, the 747 classic and the Dash-7 are my favorites. Everyone used to have a dream before we all got beat down by our rest and duty regulations, by our poor contracts and even poorer unions. This was mine. I'm trying to not lose sight of it tho I think sight might be the least of my worries now days.

There is a 707 parked at longterm by Sharjah that recently got a total overhaul and new country reg., allocated to Guinea-Bissau.
Its J5-CGU. ex-9G-JET, and as far as i know its parked cause no pilots and staff are available...there is another similar case by Tchad (Mid Express Tchad [TT-DAX]) and maybe the guys at Mali Gov. ( TZ-TAC) could also recruit for next times...sometimes in DRC they can amange also to put some flying until they fall down, like 9Q-CLK or CKK...
There is also some rumours few days ago an all white 707 was painted into Kyrgyz reg. EX-102, still awaiting staff and papers...However check carefully this link, updated by some 707CRAZYFREAKS as me...:ok:

A friend here worked with with Lowa Ltd. They are in Massachusets and Zurich and have possibly one of the best flying example in the world. No harm in having dreams :ok: !.

I was in Orlando FL in early April and saw a beautiful private 707 load all its passengers and depart for the middle east. Don't know who owns it. I think the only few remaining 707s are privately owned.
You may want to establish a resume and contact @ Evergreen as they may have a class this susmmer for 747 classic FOs.

Sorry but J5-CGU is crewed (all grayhairs!), they are just waiting for the authorities to release them because of some paperwork issues....

N88ZL does not belong to Lowa anymore, they changed to a BBJ2 a long time ago. I am not sur about the operators name but it is something like "Principal air services".

I was also a 707 freak when I was young but I now accepted the fact I would never fly one. The only place where you would have a chance would be by the Army.

Sorry for the bad news....

if u really want Boeing classic time.....do a 737-200 rating, still many of these plying the skies, so better chance of job.I managed to work on 707's but never flew one!

There is also G-RAAF parked at KIA Kent UK that did fly and undertakes engine runs periodically. You might find the owner via Manston Airport website? Good Luck.

Pratt and Whitney Canada has a 720. Not sure about the American engine manufacturers.

I was walking round a 707 freighter the other evening parked up in Abu Dhabi, the poor girl was showing her age! It has been suggested that this may be the one that was registered EX-102 but here in AUH she was wearing P4-GAS:ok:

Should it make me feel old to have worked on a 707, only 34 but it makes me wonder how many other people younger than myself have had the experience of working on or flying this majestic aircraft...

My experience was with a CAC.. Challenge Air Cargo bird that cracked a wing spar, after months of tear down and some fine sheetmetal repairs (not my skillset) she flew again only to suffer another hard landing that put her down again.

There are probably a bunch of old folks here who remember her in her glory as the first of few JET AIRLINERS. The 707 and DC8 did alot for me in understanding the basic systems and how they have evolved onto the commercial aircraft of today.

Our common reference today to a classic aircraft is most commonly the the 737/747 only because they have advanced in structural improvements that are competative in the market.

Travolta's 707
 
Yes, John Travolta operates a 707-138B.
He employs 2 captains and 2 flight engineers (one F/E does A&P duties).
John himself has a CPL and a CE-500 type rating.
Originally was not "type rated" (as he "acts" as F/O) on the 707.
I assume he recently obtained a "second in command 707 type rating" to fly out of USA.

Are you sure SuperSpotter...P4-GAS belongs to a shiny AirAstana 757..:confused:

Which, incidentally, started it's flying career as G-AWHU with British Airways:)
