DHL moving to CVG

For all of you that haven't heard yet, DHL is moving it's sort hub from ILN to CVG. Effective date is sometime this summer. Hello easier commute!

Are they still going to use ABX and ASTAR?

It is not very long ago, when we used to fly to CVG regularily. Of course for DHL! So back to the roots! Cheers:ouch:

Again? That was money well spent on closing down the hub then.

"Are they still going to use ABX and ASTAR?"

According to the article, yes . . . but they didn't release any numbers. If you use a certain powerful web browser search tool you can get the article from the CVG newspaper

Yes, DHL has also dumped talks with UPS. That is a bit of a good sign for ABX and ASTAR.

I don't think the CVG HUB was 'closed' only 'deactivated' so all the sort system is still in place, just needs a dust down and fired up. All the ramp equipment will be transferred back.

CVG was mothballed, not parted out. The company has been looking into the re-activation since January ("just in case").

Expensive to move back to ILN, true, but compare that to be the sole operator supporting all the costs of running ILN (DHL owns it). At CVG, they share the costs with other tenants... Makes a lot of sense with the reduced flying.
