FedEx will not have a TV ad for this seasons Super Bowl. Must be a sign of the times.

FedEx defers delivery of 777 freighters

FedEx is deferring delivery of its first Boeing 777 Freighters by up to 17 months, resulting in the postponement of $275 million in commitments from 2009 into the future.
The cargo operator's November 2006 order for the 777F was a blow to Boeing rival Airbus after FedEx cancelled its order for 10 A380s due to programme delays.
FedEx still has 15 777F aircraft on order, but deliveries of four aircraft originally scheduled for next year have been rescheduled to 2010. Ten aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2011 followed by the final delivery in 2012.
Boeing on 14 November announced a three month delay of the 777F first delivery to Air France, citing the two month strike by its machinists.
Two aircraft are scheduled to complete flight tests this month.

Approximately $3,000,000 US for a 30 second spot turns into a sizeable savings for FedEx. As these adverts are really only seen in the US, sort of a waste anyway I believe. That money could used to feed a bunch of hungry people, throughout the world. :ok:

Fred Smith has made some ground breaking decisions to help FedEx avoid any job losses & maintain profitibility for the FedEx shareholders.
To make these decisions to take a pay cut from the top down takes guts, well done to Fred & his team.:ok:

You are so wrong. The first 777 is delayed until Sept. due to the Boeing strike, revenue starts in Nov or Dec.
Comments about Fred Smith are right on. He is one heck of a CEO and that is why the statement by the chief pilot that FedEx will be the last flying job you'll have is so true.

Hmmm:hmm: Sounds like a chief pilot of the airline I used to work for, before the furloughs, BK, and pension termination.

Fed Ex is NOT delaying the delivery of the first 777, Boeing did due to the strike. The first revenue flight is expected in November of this year and the delivery schedule is on track, barring any problems from Boeing of course. The transition from supplimental to domestic flag and ETOPS is moving along at a torrid pace. Fed Ex is not retracting jsut re-tooling. Fred Smith has publically stated that he expects to double the growth in ten to fifteen years. Pay cuts and reduction in guarantees, are just a bump in the road. He who discounts Fred is doing so at his own peril.
