Just a quickie....
Hey Guys. Just a quick question for all you freight-liners out there. Is crewing a freighter an option for a newly qualified ATPL holder? If so, where would I look for jobs?
Like to hear from as many people as poss on this one please. Many thanx. |
A lot of new ATPL's use a job with freight operators to build hours. Historically they are more likely to take on a low hours pilot. Try Channel Express & Emerald for a start.
Good luck ! Ragspanner. [This message has been edited by ragspanner (edited 17 June 2001).] |
Not so in the US.
Hours and quals hauling freight are equal to or better than pax carriers. UPS, FED-EX and DHL etc. Evergreen for instance requires a minimum of 4000 hours total time. Jet time and jet type rating preferred. The entry level jobs in the US seems to be American Eagle, Continental Commuter and such. Guys with less than 1000 hours get hired with those outfits. ------------------ Men, this is no drill... |
1200 hrs (part 135) is minimum in US for freighthauling. Depending which outfit pay is equal or better than commuters, and often PIC turbine (cessna caravan). Airnet express will hire low time fo's
