Does anyone know what the An225 is doing at MAN today? When did arrive, where is it going and who is using it..?

I flew into Manchester last night and couldnt believe what I was seeing! Spent a while looking at it from the car park, if only I had read this thread last night I'd be down there watching its departure right now, as it happens I'm waiting for it to come over my house right now! How do you find out the date/times of cargo flights such as this? Wouldnt want to miss it again. Never seen it at Manchester before, only seen the An124.

the 225 is carrying about 140,000kg stage equipment to Lagos for a concert with Snoop Dogg, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes

it is holding in africa, whilst they have the concert and is then returning with all the equipment, so if you want to spot it properly, it will be returning in about a week or so.

It's been delayed departing. Now expected to depart tomorrow morning (or maybe tonight if they can get it loaded in time!)

no its not. they were involved, but the cargo ballooned from 40T to 140T, the shipper panicked and booked it with a small uk broker over the weekend. well thats what i understand anyway!

Ahh, the Dream. Had the thing in Bahrain year before last, loading 3 Main-Deck loaders for a charter to Saddam Intl. Took a fair while to get them all onboard, but when finally loaded the hold still looked rather empty. The loadmaster approached us, complaning he was out of balance and needed a bit of ballast. "How much you're looking for" I asked, thinking I could get a couple of lads to whip up some sandbags in a hurry. "About 40 tons" came the reply. :ooh:

Thank (insert name of favourite imaginary friend here) we had heaps of mail we could loose load around the HiLo's, and still he left with a very impressive underload. Fantastic bit of kit it is.

Was at MAN earlier and the An 225 is still parked there in the same place it was on Monday, anyone know a revised departure time?

It departed today at about 12:00L and was the last departure off 24L. It was too big to take the usual route to 24L via Foxtrot so a Follow-Me truck brought it down Alpha and onto 24R via B1. It backtracked 24R as far as F1/FZ and then taxied to T1 and 24L where it did it's usual 4-minute run-up. It appeared to go virtually the full length of 24L before getting airborne. A hell of an impressive sight, especially making turns with all that undercarriage.

It flew right over my head on approach about 1450 when i was refereeing a kids football game. I stopped concentrating on the game just to stare at it which on reflection probably wasn't the most intelligent thing to! Amazing sight though, and the noise!

I was just turning off 24r when it took off,made my cruddy 145 look even smaller.Thunderbird 2 in grey not green,made my day.

Aircraft came into EMA at 0100 today (thursday) due out 0900z friday :\

I was on it!!
 

I flew on the plane. We went to Lagos, via Tripoli( To refuel). Landed at 22.00 on Thursday, 5th Oct Spent 42 hrs w/out sleep, to get all of our staging from the Airport to the venue in downtown Lagos.
All the delays were due to lack of funding being available in time from our Nigerian client, or obstructions due to the unbelievable amount of back handers that are expected there!
Rock-It didn't panic, as the weight was always going to be that much, they simply weren't asked.
The crew were excellent, and without them there's a chance that one of the Lighting boys wouoldn't be back home now, as he left his passport on an airport minibus.

It was an honour, and one hell of a privilage to share the last week with this amazing plane, and we wparked next to a 124 in NEMA.
I've got loads of photo's and vidz of it, and on't know what to do with them so that I can share . ANy suggestions welcome.

This is a PLANE . . . . and consigned to the scrap heap by a very ungrateful BA who had all their aircraft bought for them by the ever suffering tax payers!:ugh:
