Star Air Orders 767 SF`s

Word is that Star Air , based in Denmark , has placed an order for 11 B767 SF conversion a/c to be operated under OY Reg. , under contract for UPS.
Let the rumours fly guys and gals.

Not a rumour, it's confirmed by Star Air. Aircraft ex. ANZ and, I belive, AAI. IAI designed conversion, work performed somewhere in Brazil. First two ex. ANZ machines in the shop, so to speak. Supposedly the 767s will replace Star's fleet of RR powered 727-100F and 757-200PF.

Good news for the stick monkeys, bad news for the FEs.

Hi. 727s already long gone. 767s wille replace 757s. See previous posts in Freight Dogs forum.

For the record: OY-UPS - last Star Air 72 flew the last revenue flight on Friday July 30th. 2004.
A handfull of FE's went to a 72 operator in the gulf area - rest found positions with various maintenance orgs.

Just curious if anybody knows what the livery will be on the Star 767s? (UPS, Star or Maersk paintjob?)

Astar and ABX are painted in DHL colors.

It'll be the new UPS livery which, if you ask me, is rather smart looking. Certainly looks better than our bananas .....

Good news for the stick monkeys, bad news for the FEs.
You never know, they could be the 762's ex AN & it shouldn't be too hard to put the FE's seat back in!;) :p

Just wondering about Star Air.

Where are the pilots based? In Copenhagen or somewhere in Germany. Are the majority Danish or something else? HOw is commuting for the flying?

Hi Catans.

We are all based in Germany ( Cologne ) and the majority is danish , some germans , some swedish and until recently also some norwegians.

Commuting is most of the time without problems.

Greetings,

I talked to one of the secretarys earlier this year about the planned recruitment for this year and she told me that it would probably start in the early autumn months. Are there any news about this?

For you guys who´s been with the company for years, are you still happy with the operation and can you live with the commuting back home?

As an ex-Maersk pilot, I´m seriously concidering joining the company as a long term move and would therefor apreciate any thoughts and information about the lifestyle you can expect, if possible with the new 767 operation in mind.

Many thanks!

I am wondering about what people who work at Star Air like their job.

In partiqular: the schedules, how the commute back and forth to germany works out of Kastrup or other places, what kind of routes (in Europe or other places as well), pay, how paying taxes work, etc.

Also wondering about what kind of background the pilots have who gets hires have.

Please let me know.

Do you all commute or do some choose to live in Koln?

If so, do you have to pay German or Danish taxes? Which is best?

Cheers
