World MD11

Word is World have tipped one of their MD11's but are trying to keep it quiet.
This could be a big problem for a struggling carrier already in Chapter 11. Anyone have any news or pictures?

I heard there was one that went on its tail during off-loading in Bagram.
Not the best place to deal with what can be a very complicated issue.

As far as keeping it quiet, I doubt if they'd issue a press release.

If you really want to see images of a MD11 on its tail, google is the place to go. Plenty of pics (World, Gemini, Transmile, China Southern, etc) plus other types to be found, if you enjoy that kind of thing.

You don't mean this other World MD-11?

269 was a very short term lease. Not relevant to the incident. But nice try at flamebate.

Ah, thanks L-38, ex Finair bird. Last MD11 I flew. Hopefully the last I'll ever fly.
Best of luck to all in this business. Especially all the haters, they have it harder than anyone else...

Actually, my point was a little off subject - why is a World Airways MD-11 already in the scrapyard? They are too young to die.

FedEx have recently bought two World MD-11s but I don't think 269 is one of them. 274 and 276 appear to be the two. They are, I believe, already at VCV and will be used for spares, not operated.

276, hell I spent more time sleeping on her than in my own home for a few years. If she joins the fleet I will be sure to give her special attention. I owe it to her. Point of interest I flew on her as a CF in pax and -F. I flew on 274 several times based in Dayton, spent a few great week ends cleaning up her log book in BRU, one day of cleanup 2 days of chocolate and beer!

More than 60 years in service, this airline has a devine ability of survival. This is not their first rodeo.

Twenty one years old, not too bad if it had a hard life.
