Freight Dogs Finally a forum for those midnight prowler types who utilise the unglamorous parts of airports that many of us never get to see. Freight Dogs is for pilots and crew who operate mostly without SLF.

Not quite what you'd expected!

Post Not quite what you'd expected!

A question to all fellow 'freight dogs'.
In your years of hauling boxes back and foward, what stories of weight and balance problems have you.
Too often this problem happens, sometimes causing 'minor occurences', sometimes major holes in the ground. Doesn't it make you mad!

Back when I was new at the freight hauling game (ie, about three months ago)I loaded a C402 up to the gills and started doing a weight and balance calculation. My PIC looked at it and said "No way that's eighty pounds" (or whatever the number was on the manifest). We called the loaders over and figured that addition was perhaps beyond their range of skills.

Made me realise that not trusting the paperwork was important though.
