One of the 747s at Kemble had the engines removed a couple of years ago, a large amount of concrete being place in the forward hold to keep it in balance, the cargo door has been left open since then, just visible in this photo from 2010.

I am aware of at least one former MK pilot, a personal friend, who is still owed at least US$37000 in unpaid salary. I am sure there are many others.

All ex staff owed salaries with no chance of getting them. Shame it happened, there were lots of good times & great people, all of whom have moved on with there lives.

I don't post here much but personally, I think it is disgusting if the people that owe money can just switch names and commence business without settling their debts. I worked with a few of the Ex MK guys and they are a great bunch who stood by the company and put their hands in their own pockets to help out. This is a real slap on an already painful face. I guess there really is no justice.

Peter Talalla This thread is over four years old and has only recently been resurrected, the plans to rebrand the company were shelved in March 2008 while the company was still trading and the company went out of business in late 2010, so no attempt to recommence business under a new name.

MK Airlines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In September 2006, MK Airlines was issued a new airline licence by the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority. In November 2007, plans for a rebranding of the airline as British Global were announced.[2] The company had its airline code changed to BGB accordingly,[5] but in March 2008, the rebranding was postponed indefinitely.[2]
The financial burdens of the company could not be alleviated in the short term. On 9 April 2010, all operations ceased with surrender of the Air Operators Certificate to the UK CAA the same day.[2][6][7] An attempt was made to secure a company voluntary arrangement in order to be in a position to apply for a relaunch of operations. The CVA was successfully challenged by creditors as having been irregularly conducted and was rejected by the High Court of Justice on 5 October 2010.[8]

I never said it makes it alright, & as I am one of the staff owed money I think I have a right to voice my opinion. The staff from MK have moved on as lingering in the past will get them & myself no where.

Actually Peter is correct. There are moves a foot to resurrect the company by the very people who put the knife into the backs of the crew. DC8's out of Latvia. If there money for a new company pay those who stood by MK for so many years! Most of us have dusted off the mess and moved on but there still the a few who could do with a helping hand.

Was only a matter of time until mk rears his head again. Leopard never changes it's spots though so good luck. Nothing like doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Angel The end for the 2 ex-MKA 747s in Ostend

So the 2 747s in Ostend are being scrapped.

DC8

The aircraft in LUN still stands. One more roll of the dice for MCK ?. Why not anyway ?. We all forget much he did for Africa aviation when we criticise him for the failure of a company he no longer was really controlling ..

MK airlines inhabited a lucrative "niche" in the industry for a long time and the employees went along with that and made money, so any sour grapes now is in my opinion a bit 2 faced, but IMO thats southern africans for you. just an opinion.
